Like any other shaving brush with boar bristles, it needs to be cleaned prior to using it for the first time. My method is to simply soak it overnight in liquid soap / dish-washing liquid in a bowl - rinse it out completely the next morning and let it dry. If there is any residual odor, then repeat the process one more time and all the smell should be gone completely. The cycle of soaking and drying is what eliminates the odor - once the smell is gone it will not come back again. The boar bristles have a good backbone and I use this brush primarily to shave my head - the stiff bristles help in exfoliating my scalp and gives the feeling of a good head massage. I use a scuttle to keep the shaving lather warm and am able to lather my scalp a couple of times while shaving in opposite directions for a clean shave. Boar bristles take time to soften and each use ends up softening the bristles. This shaving brush is very dense and it is easy to whip up a good lather because of the stiffness of the bristles. It has a large size and the handle is well designed for a good grip while applying lather. I have had other Parker brushes and they have lasted a long time - the price for this shaving brush (including the stand) is very good and I expect to get years of service out of this brush as well. Pretty Good Shaving Brush - The build is good overall, the handle is solid with good ergonomics and aesthetics, it makes it look like quality. The bristles stay on the handle without falling off, though sometimes an errant bristle will go out of place and become sideways. The bristles lather well and are smooth against the face when brushing the side. However, if brushing directly on the bristles can be a little prickly. It is supposed to become softer over time, but not yet for me. Stand could be improved - Feels like such a shame that a nice looking brush is paired with what feels like a cheap plastic stand. The stand just doesn't match the quality. It is light and easily tilted over. Two hands must be used to place the brush back. One to hold the stand and one to put the brush in, otherwise it will just fall over. The stand also gathers residue visuals from leftover water drying out. The stand will only hold the brush right where the bristles connect to the handle. Read more

Its ok, the bristles are a bit on the rough side and a bunch of hairs came out of it just unwrapping it. The acrylic stand is cheap plastic that came broken. Probably would order a nicer one next time but this will work for a while i guess. Read more
Parker makes some great products that offer good value for money. I own several of their brushes, including this one. Nice and oversized, scritchy with a tightly packed knot and great backbone. Does a great job of lifting hair stubble and exfoliating skin. Cool looking handle, too. I'm still breaking this one in. Read more
Wow I’m super happy with my new brush. I’m not a fan of badger it to soft for me. So I switch to Boar hair. This brush broke in super easy. It’s nice and firm and just the right amount of softness. Totally happy with it. Thanks you. I don’t usually right reviews. But had to this time. Read more
Quality manufactured product, but boar bristles are quite unabsorbent. I have been soaking them and using hair conditioner to try to soften them up. I will say that the brush is made well. Read more
First shaving brush. I use this to lather up my head for shaving. It works great. Gets a nice lather going and feels good applying it. There were only a few loose hairs that came out but the knot isn't shedding; they were just stuck in from manufacturing. My complaint is the stand. It's flimsy and has a notch that catches the brush when putting the brush on. This doesn't immediately cause problems, but I know this will cause fraying in the future. I'm either going to cut off the notches, or recycle the stand entirely. Love the handle, very little smell (to me), and soft but firm. A tip I found online to helps with smell: add dish soap to some warm water and rub it into the brush. Leave it soaking for 30 minutes. Then, rinse it and work up a lather using your shaving soap. Leave the lather on it and let it dry out over night. The next day, rinse it out. Read more
