After my $200 Pitbull head shaver stopped working after about a year, I decided to try the Philips Norelco Head Shaver Pro 7000 Series (HS7980/40), and so far it has been a fantastic replacement. I shave my head regularly, so having a reliable shaver is important. The first thing I noticed with this Philips Norelco is how smooth and comfortable the shave feels compared to many rotary-style head shavers. The 360° flexing head design works extremely well. It follows the contours of the scalp naturally and maintains consistent contact without requiring constant angle adjustments. This makes it easier to get an even shave, especially around the sides and the back of the head. The ComfortCut blades provide a clean shave while remaining gentle on the skin, which is important if you shave your head frequently. So far I’ve been able to get a close shave without irritation or pulling. Another thing I appreciate is the overall build quality and ergonomics. The shaver feels solid in the hand and is easy to maneuver, even when reaching the back of the head where many shavers struggle. Battery life has also been excellent so far, and cleaning the unit is quick and simple. Compared to the Pitbull shaver I previously owned, this one simply feels more refined and better engineered. Time will tell how it holds up long term, but the performance so far has been very impressive. If you're looking for a reliable electric head shaver for a bald head, this Philips Norelco model has been an excellent performer and feels noticeably higher quality than many dedicated head shavers. After several weeks of regular use, performance has remained consistent, smooth, and irritation-free. Pros Very comfortable shave with minimal irritation Flexible head adapts well to scalp contours Clean and consistent shaving performance Solid build quality and ergonomics Good battery life Cons None so far Bottom line: For anyone searching for a good electric head shaver for a bald head, the Philips Norelco 7000 Series has been a great choice and a big improvement over my previous shaver. Bought this to replace another head shaver that I liked but was having many issues with replacement blades. I did a lot of research and online comparisons and reading of review after review on many different head shavers. I decided on this due to my experience using the One Blade from Philips Norelco. Been using this head shavers for 3 weeks now and after a few days of trial and errors I have to say it’s a pretty incredible shaver. No nicks cuts or irritations. Leaves a real nice smooth head. Very easy to clean daily and I’ve done a deep clean every week. The deep clean took about 10 minutes. If your in the fence about getting a head shaver I highly recommend this one. Read more
I tried another bald shaver first, but it didn’t contour well and wasn’t very comfortable. This one works much better - the heads float and pivot smoothly, giving a close, comfortable shave. It may cost a bit more, but the performance, USB convenience, and ease of use make it worth it. Easy to clean and very reliable - I highly recommend it for anyone looking for a quality bald shaver. I seldom write reviews but I’m making an exception to help my bald bros out. This is an excellent, well built shaver that has proved durable over the past couple months of use. I also own the Remington balder pro as well as the Skull Shaver Silver, and I would easily rate it high than the skull shaver, but not the Remington. Remington requires less passes to shave hair and has better coverage, is easier to clean and replace blades. However between Remington and this Philips, both shave just as close, also definitely better than skull shaver. Remington also feels better in the hand and seems to struggle less when used in the shower with shave gel. No hair pull, great battery life, but main complaint is having to do multiple passes. Given the build quality, I would buy this over the Remington as it seems it would last longer and is made with higher quality materials Read more
Better than Backscape, and Free Bird. This thing is VERY close to shaving with a razor. Comfortable, quiet, no bumps! Pricey, but DANG good! Read more
Best head shaver I've used. Easy to use, good close cut, and easy to clean. I shave my head every 2-3 days and the battery holds charge for about a month. Read more
I'm balding... whew, now that's out in the open. The back of my head looks like someone took a divot on a golf course. I can't do much about it and my wife finally accepted my baldness and let me shave my head, so I tried a couple of different shavers. Other shavers left my head with stubble that was easy to feel and see. This shaver gets a shave that is nearly as good as you could get with a blade. I use Clubman shave gel and it does an incredible job. I use an Aloe Vera lotion after shaving so I don't end up with any issues, but I never see any redness on my head after shaving and it feels extremely smooth. This version comes with a cleaning cup that I use each time I shave to clean the blades. This is as simple as filling to the fill line with hot water, turning the razor on, putting it in the water, and letting it run for about a minute. I do this more than once to ensure that it is clean. I have tried this shaver in the shower as well, but I didn't notice a lot better performance in the shower, so I just shave over the sink. The Clubman gel really helps with comfort, so I recommend that with the razor. If I could change something about this razor it would be the charger. There is no reason in today's market to use proprietary connectors. This should be a USB C charger cable and it should be that simple. This would allow for compatibility with any USB C port and would be very convenient. It would also be nice if there was a charging station you could just drop the shaver in to charge. That would be ideal. Bottom line: I cannot imagine a better shaver and I give this a STRONG recommendation. Read more
