I've been hanging onto this review for months, because this thing has been sitting in my car, but you know what hasn't been? ME! I moved earlier in the year to a more walkable neighborhood, and the most I use my car for is moving my car on the days they sweep the streets. That said, though, I did take an in-depth look at this, and it's totally not a fit for my needs, but that's not because there's anything wrong with the design, as much as the demands are a little high. Firstly, as is clear in the picture, the mount is based on a magnet for your phone, and if your phone doesn't already have the right size and type of magnet (none of mine do), then it includes some very thin adhesive magnetic rings to affix to the back of your phone. Unfortunately, for my case, the two phones I use daily are a "no" and a "maybe". The no is a fold-out phone, and given that it has a spine in the middle there is no way to center the magnet on its center of gravity. This isn't a knock on this mount, as this phone doesn't fit in anything, with or without a case. My other phone would be a good candidate, except I would either have to remove the case (because my case has a ring on the back with a lump), or get a new case without this convenience just to place it in yet another phone mount I have. I haven't tested these specifically, but magnetism attenuates *really* quickly, so even placing the ring on the back of the phone inside the case (or in the back of the case), is going to reduce the adhesion really significantly. The adjustability and stability, as well as the sturdiness of the build is impressive. This is meant to be one you put in place and leave there. In my case, this would not work on my dashboard, as it has a faux texture to it, which I can't get anything to stick to, really. However, by flipping it over, I can essentially have my phone in exactly the same location, just with the base attached to the windshield. The trick/tip I will share about using a suction cup this way is to wear a mask (like a COVID mask), and take rubbing alcohol and wipe the location where you plan to put the suction cup. Wipe it over about 2x the circular area than you need. Then, don't breathe on it (hence, the mask), so certainly don't blow on it to dry it, nor use anything to try to wipe up the alcohol (this will introduce bacteria that, over time, will multiply, die, emit gas, etc., that will create bubbles under the suction cup and make it loose. Similarly, once the windshield is about dry (it should be pretty quick, wipe the suction cup with alcohol thoroughly), but don't wait for it to dry, and open the tensioner on the suction cup, put it where you want it, and close the tensioner, then hold onto it for a moment (99.99% chance it will stay just fine). Make sure you know where you want this mount for sure. After I had applied this a few days later I decided I wanted to change spots and boyyyyy it did NOT want to relocate.
