This is a nice, powerful air conditioning unit that works with windows that slide both up and down and side to side. That's been my biggest issue with window mounted unites, it they don't work with the larger side to side opening windows like I have. So this one has worked out so well for me. My bedroom is on the top floor of my home and all the heat rises to there, plus the dogs sleep in the room as well, so they make it even warmer. And then if I turn on the TV to watch something before going to sleep, that heats up the bedroom even more. So cooling it down has been a challenge. No amount of fans seems to help, at least until the seasons have changed and it gets much cooler at night. But all through the summer time it's miserable. So this has helped. Set up was pretty easy. This portable unit is strong and priced well for the size. There are some units similar in size that have some more high tech features like Bluetooth in them and such, but they also cost quite a bit more. If you don't need tons of techy add-on's, you can save the money and go with something like this instead. It does come with a remote control, so I'm able to adjust the settings without even getting up if I want to. I have used these all summer without a problem. Easy to setup. Good smaller size for the room I have it in and easy dehumidifier setting, which is primarily what I'm using it for. It's not noisier than any other unit, and works fine. I replaced the flimsy hose with real rubber tubing from the local hardware store. I heated the end up of the purchased tube up in some boiled water, then secured it onto the back for easy draining. Read more

We picked up this 8000 BTU portable air conditioner to provide spot cooling during out triple digit summers, which lasts for about three months. I wasn't sure the vent would fit properly in our tall, vertically sliding windows, but I need not have worried. The installation kit easily fit the vent in our window. From there, it's basically just a matter of plug it in and see what it does. The air emitted was instantly cool, and the noise level is not unreasonable. I mean, it's perfectly fine unless you're watching television next to it. The system controls are straightforward, as is the remote control. Really, the setup is as simple as you can get. I have been using this in my daughters room upstairs. it definitely helps. My AC unit as a whole upstairs is too small so I am lucky for it to keep the rooms below 80. This addition helps keep the room much cooler. The sun is harsh so even with this it's not perfect, but much more comfortable. It is the problem with hot, sunny, humid days.
