There is a black plastic hose covering the actual metal goose neck part and when I removed it I found a low quality, chipped paint job. I took a few minutes at the wire wheel attachment on my bench grinder and removed all the paint. Now it looks AMAZING! The cheap plastic and bad paint were covering a very high quality monitor mount.
