Customers say

Customers find the herding ball cover to be of good quality. However, the durability receives mixed feedback, with some finding it extremely durable while others report it breaking before use. Moreover, the zipper durability is concerning as it breaks within seconds, and customers consider it an expensive toy. Additionally, the bite resistance is poor, with dogs often biting through the outer layer.

Must Have

Heather Mβ€”December 27, 2024

This is a must have item for herding dogs. Our dog spends a lot if time herding this ball around d our yard. We are onna 2nd one. My only ding is that our dog often bites through the outer layer. Not a huge deal but wish it was a little tougher. Read more

My Australian Shepherd immediately found the weak spot zipper.

Mary Gβ€”March 30, 2023

Zipper already ripped out of cover. Needs some type of secure cover over zipper. She loves the ball, but is too tough for it. Read more

Read the instructions carefully

All of the pet toys I have purchased in my 50+ years pale in comparison to this herding ball. Rascal Flats is my red healer puppy that I adopted when he needed a home. I live on one acre so not a place to keep cattle that he so desperately wants to herd. I felt so bad for my little boy, he NEEDED A JOB, that I was considering finding him a home where he had livestock to herd. My heart was Breaking but I felt it unfair to him. My precious niece said get him a herding ball (I had never heard of such!). When I got the ball inflated and put it down for him he immediately started pushing it around the yard. He has pushed this ball a million miles since and I swear he smiles. The first one was damaged due to my incorrectly inflating it. But I got him another quickly and he is playing again. I will always keep one for him from now on. It is very rugged and well made. I can not say enough good about this product. Rascal said β€œ5 stars”. Read more

Excellent Herding breed purchase!

James & Michelle Lβ€”February 20, 2024

Purchased this ball for my half cattle dog and half border collie. She loves it! She will play for hours if you let her. I have to stop and take it away. It’s perfect size for her. She is able to use her nose. Body or she will carry it around. Read the description as this is just the cover and I had to purchase the ball separately! Read more

Zipper DOES NOT LAST

Naptown Larryβ€”November 19, 2025

Great concept with a HUGE FLAW... The sunbrella type canvas of this cover overall is great. It's durable, UV resistant, and puncture-proof WHEN PROPERLY INFLATED. The Flaw in this product is the CHEAP PLAST ZIPPER. In order for the interior ball to resist attempts from your pet to puncture it requires that the ball be inflated to the point where the cover is TIGHT. Any slack in the cover allows your pet to quickly bite through the ball and there in lies the problem. As temps fluctuate, the air pressure in the ball needs to be changed to keep the cover from being not too loose allowing interior ball punctures; And not too tight causing the cover seams to split. So the zipper has to continue working after initial inflation for adjustments. Unfortunately the cheap plastic zipper used in this cover often fails completely after the first use. And never lasts beyond being opened and closed 3-5 times. Which makes this into a dissapointingly expensive toy if you have to end up replacing it over and over again after only a couple weeks or months. Read more

Good in some instances.

Customerβ€”February 11, 2024

My 70lb German Shepard absolutely Loves this ball. Unfortunately, as he is directing it he nips at it, and over a few months has ground down his teeth on the canvas cover to a point where they are no longer rounded but are now pointed and sharp and needing repairs to his teeth. Now that his teeth have sharp edges they are catching the seams of the cover tearing them open. He has punctured the ball after the zipper broke off exposing the ball inside. I used the included patches but they did not create a perfect seal and started to leak. I did manage to repair the hole by using flex tape, so if you have problems with holes i recommend Flex tape for repair. The cover for this ball would be good if they could get the seams on the inside as to not catch teeth on them. Read more

Wrong cover size

kim bβ€”September 8, 2024

Due to family emergency, I was unable to open and use the replacement cover before return window closed. When I was able to place the original 25” ball in the cover and fill it to the max with air, the cover was too big. Disappointing and too expensive to try to buy a bigger ball. The first cover didn’t last long as occasionally my border collie would mess around with the zipper area. Fleeting moments of intrigue were had pushing the ball around, but her tooth must have caught the zipper area, making it rip a little. When that happened, she became investigative and made the material rip even more. I think we are done with this expensive experiment. Back to the beat up soccer ball. Read more
