I think my issue with this type of sharpener is one of patience. When first using it on a blade, you probably need to do maybe 100 passes on each side. Enough passes to create the angle you want. The factory may say it is a 15 degree angle, for example, and the magnetic holder says it is 15 degrees, but I doubt both of those are exactly the same. As a result, you will need to get rid of some of the steel to get the angle your holder uses. but I get sharper edges, and faster, using the Brod & TaylorVG2. I also have a Worl 2 (I think that company originated this roller style). I have another sharpener from a quality manufacturer that has the 2 crossing rods and you pull the knife back towards you. I get much better, and faster, results using that. I think the reason is that this rod style adjusts to whatever the angle is on the blade. The sharpener with the rods is also about half the price of this one. Going back to the sharpener in question. I like the fact that it comes with 4 different rolling 'pads' each with a different grit. The grits are a wide enough range to handle whatever your sharpening need is with that knife at that time. They have 2 pins on the back and a pretty strong magnet that holds them in place. The roller also works really well. It rolls very easily and no need to be concerned about the end pieces unscrewing and coming loose. They will unscrew if you try hard enough, but after doing that and screwing them back in, I never had them unscrew in the slightest when using this. The metal holder covers most of the rubber rollers on the top, but on the bottom the rubber rollers are completely exposed, allowing them to do their job of rolling. Make sure you hold it so the rubber ends are totally exposed at the bottom. The magnetic holder is also very strong. I had no issues with the knife changing its position at all. At no time did it feel as though the knife was going to come free. If done properly, I don't think any method will do better than a waterstone. But, the problem with that (for me anyway) is getting any accuracy at all with the blade angle. The magnetic holder with the various angles on it is what really attracted me to this method of sharpening. So, be very patient the first time you use this on a knife. Work it until the edge is sharp and there is no burr on either side of the blade. Once you get that done, this should do an excellent job for you. Read more
Fairly easy to use and has angle holders to accommodate all the knives I have in my household. So far the sharpening performance i got out of it is lacking compared to a professional, but is significantly better than the barely noticeable improvement I got out of my old pull through sharpener. The small and thin sharpening discs make me worry a bit about their longevity, but I am hoping with just sparing small household use they should last for a while. My one other annoyance so far is that it came in a box seemingly designed by someone who looked at apple packaging but didn't study it carefully: The box looks nice and is designed in the same lift away friction held top as phone packaging, but it is much taller and tighter fitting so it required some effort to slide off, and the parts are spaced so far apart inside that the box is probably more than 4 times larger than the whole sharpening kit itself by volume.... and some of the parts (especially the roller) took a bit of force to get out. At least it looks pretty good as a gift (the actual opening experience aside), and I bet there is virtually zero chance of anything getting damaged in shipping, even if the box gets smashed pretty hard. Overall It seems to fit about where I expected in terms of performance: Worse than a whetstone sharpen done by a pro, but better than a newbie trying to do the same, and a lot better than my crummy pull through sharpener... so while I am still not sure if the pricetag is justified, it does at least seem like a useable product and should save me some trips to the local store for sharpening. I have a lot of knives for cooking and have noticed the honing steel isn't keeping up with keeping them sharp and they needed a proper sharpening. I got this rolling sharpener because I'd seen a few clips of them in action and decided to give it a shot. I was pleasantly surprised at how effective it is! It only takes a couple minutes per knife and the results are really great! I can slice through meat, vegetables and even some bones like they are butter. I had to figure out a few tricks, like putting smaller knives on a cutting board to raise them up, but once you get the hang of it, it's really easy. Read more
The media could not be loaded. Terrific sharpener. Many reasons is because there are multiple angle options depending the type of knife you are sharpening, i.e., Asian type or German, etc. The ends are easy to remove and switch out the discs; they are easily numbered and there is an instruction book, or you can simply look at the bottom of the base. The base is sturdy and the magnet is super strong. There is also weight to it and does not feel flimsy The rolling piece is easy to hold and it fits in my hand perfect, although bigger hands won’t have an issue either. Read more

Easy to use, well made. The instructions are very light. I have sharpened knives before so I understood them and how to use the product but think that someone who has never sharpened knives will need more tips to help throughout the process. There’s really no guidance as to when to move to the next grit—or even which is which. With some research and YouTube, I think it would be easy for someone to learn but not with the instructions provided alone. Read more
Innovative rolling knife sharpener that works very well. The magnetic base had four precisely angled sides for the proper sharpening position. The base has a useful guide on the bottom for choosing the correct angle for the type of knife. The sharpening wheel has two different media for all blade types. It comes with clear instructions to make knife sharpening safe and easy. Read more
