Sea salt sprays are an interesting product that I've only recently discover. The idea is to give your hair added thickness, volume, complexity, or possibly even waves (depending on the length and type of hair), similar to if you were swimming in saltwater all afternoon and dried your hair. The appeal of sea salt spray compared to most hair sprays, gels, and pomades is that you get hair definition without stiffness, greasiness, or shine. But just spraying raw sea salt onto hair would dry it out, so this is mixed with oils or other additives to preserve moisture. As a result, what is called "sea salt spray" seems to vary quite a bit from one product to the next. I've tried a few, and they range from subtle "taming" effects with almost no discernable hold (Toni & Guy) to sprays that result in firm hold more comparable to 80's hair spray (Duke Cannon). This Victory "Primer" spray is probably closer to the subtle end of things. I love that it comes in a slightly large bottle with the fine mist pump - they all should have that! When you first apply it to slightly damp hair, it looks like it is going to be shiny, but it dries perfectly matte. "Primer" also has a definite scent to it, and it is on the masculine side of things, as some reviewers noted. I can't describe exactly what it is - something like a slight musk with a little bit of citrus. I like the smell, but it is noticeable, so if you happen not to like the smell, it may be a divisive aspect of the product. But the ideal sea salt spray I'm looking for would allow for thickness and just a bit of style-ability for a tousled look. "Primer" doesn't quite there - it definitely adds thickness and maintains control, but it has little to no hold, so it would best be used in conjunction with a matte clay or paste. I might slightly prefer the Blind Barber sea salt spray, but to each their own, and this is a well-crafted spray that could work for a lot of people. Read more
Great product! Highly recommend for people with thin hair to increase volume! Read more
It does hold and helps with the volume of my hair, but after a few hours it looks like I have flaky hair but I know it's the Sea salt. It looks very Noticeable that; I Have Sea Salt on my hair. This is better if you are going somewhere at the Beach or Camping situation. But I guess I have to Continue searching for something less Flaky on my hair. 🤷♂️ Read more
