Shipped quickly. Well Packed in its own sealed cardboard shipping box. Inside box the hard drive is sealed translucent static-proof mylar bag and supported by two plastic stand offs. With instruction sheet and warranty card. See pictures. Note that the hard drives will have to be formatted (NTFS for Windows, exFAT for MAC/Linux) and also possibly partitioned (create a partition using Disk Management in Windows, GParted in Linux) if your Operating system does not see the hard drive when you hook up the power and SATA cables to it and fire up your PC. I personally did not take them out of the bags and use them yet (got them for future use in upgrading my PCs when I get the time) so am assuming that they will work ok and have low mileage (Power On Hours - found by using CrystalDiskInfo for Windows or Smartmontools for Linux) on them. First thing to know: This drive is blank. It does not come with Windows or any other operating system. The drive is refurbished, which means it could be a pull from unsold computer stock or from rental use such as corporate leases. The one I purchased showed very few hours of operation on it, but your mileage may vary. It had no bad sectors and installed and worked perfectly. It has been running for a couple of months now without a hitch. The computer recognized it right away and Windows 8 installed to it with no problem. This was used as a replacement for an HP computer. I have no problem with this type of refurbished hard drive, especially on a small use personal computer so long as you know the risks involved. The main thing to remember is to always back up your important information before you need a new hard drive. Read more
I purchased this hard drive as a cheap backup system because I was constantly loosing files on my external USB thumb drives. I had low expectations because it was so cheap, but is has been working great for almost a year with constant and consistent use. I am happy with the purchase. Read more
This Barracuda was bought to replace a broken Barracuda in a stock HP desktop. The price is not bad at all for how much memory it can hold. It definitely works and works just as good as any higher end HDD. If you are obviously looking at SSD speeds and compare to this, you are in the wrong place as this is a great hard drive to get a computer running and holding memory. Read more

Came in on time. Perfectly packaged in a static bag and sturdy box with supports. For people who don't know, before handling the drive you must touch a grounded metal surface like computer chassis. Drive, once hooked up to power and SATA cable must be initialized. At 500GB I go with MBR. Anything over 2 TB has to be GPT. Then you have to format. For a desktop NTFS is best route with 4096 sector size. DO NOT do a quick format!!! It's gonna take a while to do full format, so eat a sandwich, take a nap, etc. Let the machine do it's thing. The Seagate Barracuda is a BEAST!! Just remember, when you shut Windows off and hard drive light is blinking, it's unloading the the 15MB buffer. DO NOT unplug computer!! Oh, it helps to have an additional computer to hook up to temporary to access disk management utility on Win 10, etc.to do all the above.. Read more
i checked the hard disks "SMART" logs and found that one of the 2 drives i bought has been used HARD.. it shows a max tempertuare of 81C THAT IS WAYY TO HOT for a hard disk... i may contact customer support to see if i can exchange the drive becuase i honestly dont expect it to last long. tyhe other drive looks healthy though and has almost double the data transfer speed even though the drives are the same Read more
