These, as usual, were in perfect condition and perfectly packed! I have 4 NAS', 3 Asustors and a Synology. not sure, but there might be might be a couple Iron Wolf's left in there, but they're almost all Exos NAS hard drives. Plus I have about 6 Exos hard drives that came out of them when I put in bigger hdd's. I have NEVER had a problem with a "renewed" Exos (or Iron Wolf) hard drive. And I've gotten at least 12 or 14 of them. I cringe when I think of how much these probably cost when they were new!! (Time 12!!!) The Asustors work like clockwork, The Synology warns me that these drives aren't on Synology's "comatable drive" list, I hit "Proceed Anyway" or whatever, and they're off and running. By the time you get up to 20 - 22 TB, it takes DAYS! One of these Asustors is only two bays, so it got these (22TB) drives. I stole two 20TB drives they replaced and put them in the Synology. Everything is now finished except the "Data Scrubbing" (clean-up) on the Synology. The Asustor has 3.6 hours to go. Then I have to let it know that I want to expand that RAID. The Synology uses the Synology Hybrid RAID system, which makes MUCH better use of hard drives that aren't all the same size. It's going to need that expanded too, when it's done data scrubbing. These are great drives!! They use relatively little power (I've got off-grid solar, so that matters to me), their MTBF is 2.5 million hours, they transfer up to 200 megs per second, depend on where on the platters the heads are, and the price is way right if you do a little shopping. I'm not saying it's impossible to get a bad one, but I am saying it's EXTREMELY unlikely! Absolutely satisfied! They run a little cooler than "regular" drives because the platters are easier to spin in helium than in air, and that's always welcome. "Formatability" and "Ease of installation" are more a matter of the NAS than of the hard drive, but I thought I would try to get all the check marks. If you put them in a modern Ausustor or a modern Synology, they're easy to install without tools, and they format perfectly. (BTRFS) Read more

The HDD was packaged well, and arrived in perfect condition. SMART test results showed zero usage, 1 PoH, and everything was as it should be. After doing a full destructive write/read surface test the results came back with no errors, no bad sectors, and maintained good write and read speeds throughout. If you look up these drives online you'll find they are likely recertified HAMR drives. From what I read I expected them to be much more loud than they were, but it was not any more noisy than most other HDD's. When it comes to dollars per terabyte there is not a lower price for the same amount of space, and 22tb is a lot of extra space.. Read more

A pretty good deal on a drive that doesn't appear to be available anymore as new. Five out of six worked fine and one had to be returned to Amazon for a refund. The replacement that I ordered now makes six out of six working well in my NAS. Read more

Needed a backup drive and gave the 22TB refurb a try. DOA. The worst part is since it's not an Amazon direct sell, you can't get another one, swap for a working one or get any type of convenience coupon because you received a DOA drive (even with the insurance). You get to waste another couple of weeks until USPS, not even UPS or Fed Ex, pick up your DOA drive. I am an educated IT guy, and ran it through all the tests, have 1000w decent PS and checked all the cables, plus tested a 6tb drive Seagate and had no problems. I was shocked that the drive was in perfect condition out of the package... My advice to others is its a gamble, reading other posts 50/50. GL (1 star because it made me) Read more

The media could not be loaded. UPDATE: TEST INTERNALLY before determining if it's DOA. I got a 2nd recertified EXOS, same problem, clicking upon startup in the external USB dock. PC didn't recognize. Lamenting my terrible luck - 2 bad in a row - I decided to try it in a different dock, then internally if that didn't work. I put the drive in a different, more expensive, USB/SAS dock and lo and behold - it works!!! Maybe the cheap USB dock's power supply didn't have enough juice to spin up big drives. Anyway if you run into the same problem when first testing these in an external USB dock, definitely test internally before returning. Already paid return shipping from Ukraine, it's sitting in KY post office, trying to get it back. 3 stars until I can re-test the drive. Original review - DOA. Very bummed. Have to now return it from Ukraine to KY. Power on, starts to spin, then just click click click. Computer doesn't see the disc. Can't believe these are not all checked thoroughly before recertification and resale. Was going to get a 2nd one, but it's a crap shoot if you get a working or a dead one. Read more
