This 8000 btu air conditioner is perfect size for my bedroom. I love how quiet it runs, it isn’t much louder than running a fan. The temperature is adjustable, I was able to specify a set point and it runs just as much as needed to maintain that temperature. It does a good job of keeping up with the cooling load. Installation is really easy compared to a window mounted unit and I like how it doesn’t obstruct the view. Just a narrow panel expands to fit the width of the window and a hose is connected for the exhaust. The rest of the air conditioner sits on the floor by the window. My boyfriend just moved in and when his PC was turned on it would head up the bedroom to where I had to have my tower fan pointing directly at me and even then sometimes it was too warm. With our set up we thought it would be perfect to try a portable ac unit, and we were right! It fits perfectly in the spot we had available between his pc tower and my laptop and the vent to the window was very easy to install and conveniently placed for what we ended up doing. I velcroed the remote to the front of the unit so it wouldn’t get lost and since we have the unit on a shelf, we use the remove for the buttons instead of getting on our tiptoes to see the buttons on the top. The units a bit loud for the size of this bedroom, but my boyfriend streams and plays games with friends and the unit cannot be heard through his mic (also due to his settings and mic quality. I also use a headset for my computer, which is on the right, so we only have to turn it off if we want to watch something together so we can hear it better. The product has a problem with the control system. When you put it on auto-to start, it will start however it only has fan function. it does not go to cool if the room temp is above 75, it does not cool if the room temp is 85, fan only! At this point if you put it in cool mode it doesen't matter what temp. you set it at.. it will always go to 71, when you walk away for 5 min. It does cool but you have no control of the temp. I had to return my first one because it leaked. It arrived with a destroyed box so I had low expectations but after returning it and getting a new one they work great. They aren't quiet but also not extremely loud. No strange smells or anything from either of them. It blows extremely cold and blows very hard. I am very impressed with it. The only problem is the window attachment doesn't seal the window so I had to use some duct tape but I have no idea how they could improve it and it still fit multiple window sizes. Overall this is a great unit and I'll definitely get another one if I need one. Only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because I had to return the first one but I had no trouble with customer service and new one arrived just as quickly. Read more
This has a good capacity as we're currently using in our daughters bedroom which is approx 320sqft (even though states works up to 300sqft so bear that in mind). I love that this is both an air conditioner as well as a dehumidifier which is great value for money in our opinion. Its lightweight so its very easy to move into position and as its not a perminate fixture we do like having the option to move to other bedrooms, my husbands office if needed etc (although we've just purchased same model in black as we like it so much). Comes with a remote control making it very easy to operate without having to go to the unit itself. It is a fan so although there is some noise which you'd expect, we've found it to be very quiet and hasn't disrupted sleep. Read more
After thoroughly researching portable AC units to replace my older unit, I chose this particular unit because of it's compact size and features available. To my surprise, it exceeded all of my expectations. The packaging was excellent and installation a breeze. As soon as I set it up, turned it on and the air was so cold I had to turn it off after ten minutes. It's been a week now and it exceeds my expectations every day. Ordered a few months ago but used for the first time today. I'm in Florida, it was 84° in my upstairs bedroom today when I turned the unit on. I set the temp to 75°. It's been running nonstop for 5hrs now and the room has only been cooled to 78°. I have it set up properly and sealed the window and hoses with tape that is made for that purpose. I have weather stripping in my door frame to create a tight seal so that cool air cannot escape to other rooms, I also closed the vent in the ceiling so the cold air will be contained. I'm glad that it has cooled off at least a few degrees, but with it running non stop and still not reaching the correct temp I'm afraid it will run my electric bill through the roof. Read more
