Great "metroidvania" by namco bandai. Not done yet played about 4hrs at 20% completion, but really enjoy the game thus far. The mix of the action adventure fighting mixed with the Paxman maze structure is original enough to warrant giving this game a try, especially for fans of the genre. Read more

Completed the game after around 20 hours, it's not a good Metroidvania or even a good game. Navigation is handled very poorly during the game's mid-point; prepare to get hopelessly lost. The collectables, which are usually the highlight of Metroidvanias, are mostly unless. You'll grind for the baseline items, upgrades are extremely limited, and the game is full of bloat. You have to pay to fast-travel just to get an idea of how bad things are in this game. The gameplay is the worst; you actively get weaker as you play. The final set of bosses deals massive damage, and you deal very little. It's clear this wasn't tested well, as bosses can 2-shot you, whereas you have to be near perfect will all dodges and attacks. This isn't a challenging game; it's a game made artificially harder by using outdated mechanics like hit on contact and poor hit boxes. Mechanics can often feel unfair like the parry which requires perfect placement and timing but you can still get hit if the enemy touches you and extremely delayed abilities. Go play Hollow Knight or Metroid Dread instead, as the developers of this game did not care about what they were making. This was made for a paycheck and to get it out the door, avoid at all costs. Shadow Labyrinth sadly does not really do anything new in the genre. When it does try to go for the standard Metroidvania progression it ends up falling flat. The Map is very boring and open with nothing really setting each area apart. I got about 4-5 hours in and decided to stop playing when I unlocked a new movement ability and was upset I had to traverse an old area instead of being excited that new routes open up like the genre is known for Sadly, the PAC-MAN theme behind the game doesn't justify the luke warm game quality, and even at $30 it wasn't it even worth playing ironically Amazon sent me my copy with no disc. Somehow I felt more robbed by the replacement copy Giving 2 stars because at least they tried something new and I'd like to see companies take more risks with their IPs. Just wish they let this one bake in the oven a lot longer Read more

I bought this game on Steam within a few weeks of release. Amazing concept! Except it's obvious within the first few minutes that this was coded by vibe coders and people who have never picked up a video game before. Combat is incredibly sluggish, input lag using *any* controller, upgrades do close to nothing...the list goes on. This game is a chore and at no point did i have fun, which is why I refunded the game shortly after the first boss. Pacman mode (which is required for a lot of the game segments) is infuriatingly bad. If this game was a dollar it'd be too much. You'd get much more entertainment value out of turning a dollar into origami than this game. Flash games on Newgrounds were more fun than this game. Read more
