I purchased this single-serve machine primarily for making tea and hot cocoa rather than coffee, and it has worked very well for that purpose. It heats quickly, quietly, and produces hot water at a consistent temperature, making it convenient for single cups without having to boil water separately. The adjustable brew size options are useful, especially when making tea or cocoa in different mug sizes. The removable water reservoir is easy to refill and clean, and the machine itself doesn’t take up much counter space. Using the reusable filter makes it simple to switch between pods, tea bags, or powdered mixes. It’s well made and seems to be very durable. I really like the dark color as well. While this machine is clearly designed with coffee in mind, it functions just as well as a hot water dispenser for non-coffee drinks. I usually use a heated carafe to heat up water for a pour-over type experience for my coffee, but every now and then I want something a little less "hands-on". I like the idea of a single serve coffee machine that has very little in way of clean-up too. And sometimes, I cannot find some specific coffees in a loose bag of grounds. For example, I enjoy a variety of Green Mountain blends and I can't find any not in a K cup in any local stores. So, I opted for this to try it out. Totally happy with it. Set up is a breeze, and the water tank is easy to manipulate and fill. I love the fact that this came with a cup for a standard K cup, and with a pod for me to put my own coffee in. There are a variety of size settings--from 6 oz to 14 oz. And there is a button to select whether or not I want a bold cup or just a regular run of the mill coffee. In all actuality, I've not tried the bold button yet because the basic brew is just fine for my wants. It brews quickly--from power on to enjoying a cup is right around 90 seconds (if I put in a cream or milk). One can choose to brew from grounds (your own coffee) or a capsule (K-cup) and there is even an option for "over ice"--which uses low-temperature extraction--coffee must be mixed with ice to achieve the ideal (manual says a 1:1 ratio of ice to coffee). But, since it's winter time, I've not tried that one yet. I'm sure it will get used as the weather warms up. The instructions note that using distilled water provides the best tasting coffee, but I find that water from my tap works just dandily. Visitors over the holiday season used this machine and there were no complaints from anyone about operation or taste. The controls are well marked, and the machine is user friendly with intuitive controls. The machine looks good too, and is unobtrusively sitting on my counter without taking up a ton of real estate. There are other machines for the same price as this one, but I've no idea if they all match the features this one has. The only complaint I have is that it is not tall enough to put my 20oz travel cup under it--and it's really close to fitting--another 1/4 inch and it would be there. And I love how the 50 oz removable water tank is very convenient and means fewer refills, which is great for daily use. Setup was simple, and the machine heats up quickly, making it ideal for busy mornings. Overall, this coffee maker has become a go-to part of my routine, and I’m very glad I requested it from Amazon Vine.
