2d update: ignore both their instructions and mine. Too complicated. Here’s the revised simple system: Put the filter in the pot. Rest it on top of filter holder. Fill with water to first line in filter. Put 2 cups of ground coffee in filter. Pour in more water until coffee reaches near top of filter. Stir gently. Come back a little and stir some more until watery coffee level is near the top of filter. Leave room to stir without overflowing. I made it too complicated and so did they. Still, a superior system that makes a lot of brew without much cleanup. I do hand wash the filter occasionally. I also bought a very cheap 2 cup plastic measure that I don’t have to wash every time. Ezpz. Not brain surgery. Update: I’ve used it now several times. I’m still using regular ground store bought coffee without issue. I also got tired of weighing coffee. Using two cups of regular ground works fine for me. So basically here are my revised instructions: Add 5 cups of water to empty pot. Add 2 cups of ground (obviously) coffee to filter. Stir gently. Insert into pot. Add 2.5 cups of water on top. Try not to overflow filter. Stir gently. I use an old chopstick for poking and stirring. Top of coffee should look watery after awhile. Note: this leaves you a little room to add a small amount of water on top. Don’t overflow the filter. Do it anytime during the day and it will be ready early the next morning. Original: I’ve used several different cold brew makers over the years. The challenges are always getting a full taste brew and cleaning. This one solves those problems. Why? The quality of the filter is a lot better than the mesh screen type. It filters better. Because the filter doesn’t sit on the bottom of the holder, the sludge does not stay in the filter. Very easy to clean with a paper towel after a simple rinse. They all tell you to use coarse ground. I don’t. I use cheap pre ground coffee because if you add milk and sweetener the nuance of expensive coffee is lost anyway, at least for me. Issues: the instructions are weak, especially on attaching the filter basket holder. Hint: insert making a Y with the wide part at the top. It also uses a significant amount of coffee: 9 ounces. (There is line on the filter basket so you don’t have to weigh it.) Suggestion: during the brew waiting period, slowly stir now and then. The coffee holder does not fit very well in refrigerator and won’t fit in the door on mine. Who cares? I use a thin container I already had. All in all a superior cold coffee brewer at a good price. This brewer works with regular-ground coffee contrary to the instructions. The mesh is fine enough to filter coffee powder. There is some sediment after brewing but not more than the usual—certainly drinkable! I like how simple it is to make cold brew with this. Coffee brewed is indeed smooth and not bitter at all. I used Trader Joe’s dark and medium roast, and they both turned out as expected. Washing up is easy too. No small parts to deal with. I do a simple hand wash and towel dry it. Scooping out the huge amount of coffee was a little challenging. I used a wooden spoon so I don’t scratch the inside of the pot. Some people complain of drips while pouring. This happened to me too, but I discovered that if I lifted the spout lid (it does stay up on its own) it was no longer dripping during pours. Overall, this is a good buy at a good value. I highly recommend this brewer. Read more

This is the second espresso machine I’ve purchased for work. The other was trash and I looked high low for the best machine for me, and this one is it! It’s so easy to use, it’s compact, no mess or leaks, and I just love showing it off. I don’t mind it being plugged in to heat the water; I keep it plugged up at all times anyway. I hope it works for years and years to come. It makes THE best coffee. Read more

I'm not really sure you can beat this for the money. It makes great cold brew coffee, has a nice capacity, and is easy to use. My only real knock is that I wish the carafe and the filter basket were dishwasher safe. We've made 4 batches so far and no issues with hand washing and drying, but I would prefer the convenience of being dishwasher safe. The only other knock it not the product's fault at all, but I wish you could see how much is left in the carafe. Being stainless steel instead of glass, you just have to kind of carefully plan your last serving and next batch as it nears the bottom. Our last cold brew maker had you brew in one container and store in a glass container, so that was not an issue. Read more

Just like you, I went on the search for the perfect cold brew coffee maker. Let's face it, it can be a messy hassle. BIG PLUSES SETTING THIS ONE APART: All stainless steel, easy to clean, easy to use, big capacity, micro filtering, unbreakable, locking lid, fits on any 'frig shelf. Cricket's Easy Method of Cold Brewing: 1. Gather the SIMPLTaste brewer, a wire whisk, 61 oz. of water in a pitcher or bottle, 1 c. your choice of coffee (mine is Eight O'Clock Dark Italian Espresso, available on Amazon), any flavorings (I like 1 T. cocoa powder & 1/4 t. cinnamon dissolved in vanilla = lots of flavor, no sugar; some days I like just a 1/2 t. of cardamom). 2. Into the maker basket put 3/4 of the water, coffee, and any flavorings. 3. Whisk for 60 seconds to thoroughly moisten the grounds. 4. Add the rest of the water by pouring over the whisk, washing any clinging grounds into the brew. 5. Close & lock lid, refrigerator for 2 days up to 2 weeks. *** So I know what day I made the current batch, I took 7 of those little plastic bread bag tags, labelled them Sun-Sat, and clipped them in a stack on the handle with a rubber band. I just flip it to the appropriate day. Not elegant, but works! Read more

I love this little machine, it is exactly what I needed. I have a very limited counter, so size was the top priority, it is so easy to use, (once you read the directions) easy to clean, and makes a wonderful cup of espresso or latte (my two favs). The frother is a special bonus. Overall, this is a great little machine. Also, came very well packaged. Read more
