Used this for a wedding and for some nighttime time lapse and long exposure where a perfectly stable tripod was necessary. Overall it's very nice, the fluid head is amazing. Adjustment of the drag amount is smooth and the overall feel of the axis' are very nice. Smooth pans and tilts are easy. Locking the tripod head in a certain orientation is also easy. The leg mechanism is a cool design. One single latch per leg locks and unlocks all sections of that leg. This does save time and also my back because i don't have to bend down to unlock legs when changing spots during a shoot. The main flaw i saw was simply with durability and longevity. This is a pricey tripod and both the leg hinges and lock levers are plastic. I really wish these were aluminum at this price point. When repeatedly locking and unlocking i felt some flexion in the lock levers. This did not give me confidence that this will hold up to repeated professional use. The leg hinges where the carbon attaches to the tripod is also plastic and i could see this getting a crack. Aluminum would not have added any significant weight and would have made this bullet proof for professional use and they sell much cheaper tripods that have metal joints in these areas. so -1 star for using plastic here Read more

PATA PARTIDA: Cómo puede apreciar si claramente en el video y en las fotografías, el Tripode llegó en estas condiciones, lo estaba sacando de su empaque para empezar a trabajar en la producción de un video donde un cliente. Honestamente no revisé el producto en casa y simplemente lo saqué de la caja y lo lleve directamente a trabajar.. Este es un Tripode, construido en sus patas en fibra de carbono; en la caja en la que viene del fabricante, no presentaba ninguna abolladura, por lo cual creo que este es un error de control de calidad directamente de Smallrig. Doy tres estrellas en calificación, porque confío plenamente en los productos de esta marca, ya que los he utilizado durante varios años, sin embargo, esta es una de esas unidades defectuosas, y a cualquiera le puede pasar. He revisado muchos videos y comparado diferentes marcas y diferentes trípodes y según las necesidades que yo tengo este es el ideal para mí. Debido a esto lo volví a comprar teniendo fe de que esto no vuelva a ocurrir. No puedo culpar ni a Amazon ni al transportista porque como ya lo dije, la caja llegó en excelentes condiciones. The media could not be loaded. *** I think I forgot to show the dampening of the pan function, but be assured it's as good as the rest of the tripod.*** This is one nice tripod. I think this may be at the cusp of diminishing returns for most users. I do wish the lower/bottom spreader weren't plastic, and I wish the pan lock was a bit more secure. Fantastic fluid head. Wish there was more aluminum in the sticks construction, but the head is lovely. Holds a rigged out fx3 with v mount, audio interface and zoom lens exactly where you put it. Pam and tilt resistance could be tighter, but it’s buttery smooth. The single latch pre leg and two spreaders are super efficient. Again wish the spreaders were something other than plastic, but for 639 it’s a nice tripod. The head is 500 alone, so that’s most of the units cost. Read more

This is the best tripod I’ve ever personally owned, and I’m keeping it. But I can see how it can break easily with the plastic clips that other reviewers have mentioned. I’ll use it for local gigs, but this will never go on the road where it would most likely easily be damaged. Read more

This video tripod kit hits above it's weight class. For a sub-$1000 set-up, it's really hard to beat the craftsmanship and features this tripod hits. All of my concerns are easily accounted for in the price. The ease of use is crazy on this thing. The single lever adjustment for each leg makes set-up crazy easy. All tripods should use this approach. It is so easy to get it to the perfect angle. The carbon fiber build means it is light weight yet sturdy. It'll easily stabilize your rig, yet isn't heavy enough that you leave it in the van. You'll actually take it and use it. The connectors and brace are the downsides to the sticks. The buckles are a cheaper material than the rest of the build. So far they work great. I'm not sure how they will hold up over time. Simularly, the spreaders are plastic and may wear out over time. However, I've only had this a short about of time, so I can't confirm the long-term usage. The adjustable spiked feet are great! It's a clever design to be able to flip them to instantly get traction. The head is fluid and smooth. I really like the counterbalance and the adjustable friction. It is smooth and lightweight. It feels very similar to an entry level Manfrotto head, but with a few more bells and whistles. I don't like the tilt lock. It is placed to where it will run into the friction adjustment, requiring an adjustment to full lock down. I wish there was just a bit more room there. Not a deal breaker, but it would still be handy. The system is set-up with friction and counterbalance to provide a stable experience when set. I wish there were a more sturdy way to "lock down" everythign so that I could have a totally stable shot when desired. It still works, but would be nice, espeically if you are quickly switching out lenses/accessories, which can affect the balance. This is minor, but worth noting.
