For about 3 years I had another brand. It worked most of the time. But almost every time the WiFi went out I would go days without being able it turn my light on in my home office. About a month ago I once again had issues getting it to connect to the WiFi. I looked online for that same outlet, and quickly learned the problem. Most modern WiFi setups default to 5G. Most Smart Outlets do not. EIGHTREE's Smart Plug does. I ordered it, and the setup was relatively simple. It's been a few months, I've had to reboot my modem a few times, something that usually triggered the old smart plug, but this one, just has no issues so far staying connected because it can connect to both 2.4G or 5G. We used to have a 4 ghz set of these. They were effing rad! We hooked them up to our ac devices around our poorly air conditioned house to have some at the fingertips Clare control. However... We changed our internet, and hooking them up to the 4ghz internet that was still operating, but not locatable, became too much of a challenge even after searching for YouTube video after YouTube video. I snagged this because it was (unfortunately) the cheapest on the market at the time, because I really did miss that ease of control for at least the bedroom. Other 5ghz plugs are curaaazy expensive? And all they are capable of is hooking up the the Alexa app. Ugh. I don't have Alexa. (I won't turn this into an Alexa rant sesh I just wont; even though God help you if you have a speech impedement.) And while I do hate that I can't get a nicely priced four pack, I am glad I found this semi-affordable one that ACTUALLY WORKS. I was able to hook it up to the 5g internet super easily. It works really well. It hooked up to the Google smart home app with ease. And I couldn't be happier. Read more

Super easy to set up. Paired immediately with my WiFi network. No smart bulb required. I just plugged my lamp into the smart plug and put that in the outlet. I love that I can set a timer or turn the light off and on from my phone. Read more

Worked fine for about 6 weeks, then stopped turning kn and off based on my timers. I added routines through Alexa. Worked for one day and not since. It will turn on and off if I tell Alexa to do it, but not automatically at the times I set. Auto timers are a security measure. That’s why we bought the plug. Very unhappy about this. Read more
