Over the years I've learned that SmartWool is the only brand that I trust for Merino wool products. I own long underwear and several other socks from them, including these. It has enough padding so that my feet feel less sore after walking around 8 or 10 hours when I'm traveling. I also have a pair of the PHD run ultra lights which are great to keep your feet cool in the summertime, but there is absolutely no padding on them and so I find that my feet are sore after being on them for quite a while. That's why I chose this light cushion sock. It's still cool enough for the summer (though I do sweat noticeably more in them than with the ultra light). But the cushioning and support of these socks makes it okay for my uses. Read more

I have never had such a good sock. I dont have a typical life. I hike 12+ miles a day in the summer backpacking and snowboard 8h a day in the winter(with the longer ones). These never fall down the ankle, they have perfect warmth/cooling with the wool. The padding in all of the ones i have feel great and the thinner non padded version of this are also really durable. I don't get hot spots. It also takes a lot of heavy duty abuse to make these feel crusty. I have never been so impressed by a sock in my 30+ years of life. Read more
