Graphics and gameplay are incredible. Quite the upgrade from the PS2 version I played years ago. There are a lot of tutorials throughout the beginning which is good because there is A LOT of content to cover. Iβm only 6hrs in on game time and I LOVE it. Read more
As a player of the original version on PS2, must say they have outdone themselves with this game. Running on the PS5, graphics and gameplay are smooth and consistent. Characters within the game, developed throughout game. Cut scenes and gaming are gorgeous. The only downside being the games do not transfer from 1>2> so all that work you have done with material development, skills and equipment will not be transferred. But donβt let that deter you from making this part of your collection. Read more

While there may be some who argue that this does not match up to the events in the original FF7 ater the party leaves Midgar for the first foray into the open world of Gaia, i would have to wholeheartedly disagree. When one considers the costs and development time needed to construct a vast wide open world with so many different regions and characters and story beats to match, its not at all a small undertaking to achieve what Sqaure Enix has succeeded at. Yes it does end at the Temple of the Ancients arc, which may seem a little early but being as Sqaure does not do things by half measures, it is clear the amount of work and love and detail that went into crafting every element from the beginning of the game in Kalm to the end right after the Temple of Ancients is explored. This required many many different locations all with their own flora/fauna/ enemies, NPCS, sidequests, towns, and there are even many surprises in store all throughout. The regions of the Grasslands, Junon Area, Corel Desert, Costa Del Sol, Gold Saucer, Cosmo Canyon, Gongaga Village & Nibelheim are all vastly different and the developers went to great lengths to make each area feel like it had its own history which makes the areas feel much more real and delivers the sensation that these locations have been lived in for many years. You can take a stroll around the towns and hear chit chat from the locals who will provide a lot of insight in the regions struggles and past occurrences. This is a big step up from Remakes linear plot beats. There will come a time when you are free to travel from region to region late in the game, and while it would have been nice had there been a few more secrets to discover for the most canny explorer, it is still a feat that should be celebrated. While the ending will surely have you thinking that there is a whole lot more ground to cover for the full FF7 experience to make it to this remake project, I am confident Square Enix is capable and is more than likely saving the best for last!! An amazing game that will stand among the greatest JRPGS of all time in my opinion!!! Read more
