I purchased the black Staub Cast Iron 13"-inch fry pan, and my initial reaction to opening the box and seeing the Staub Fry Pan for the first time was " Oh Wow" The construction and appearance of this Staub Pan is simply unmatched. It's made for the serious cook who appreciates fine cookware that delivers great cooking results. The pan is larger than the typical fry pan, and its interior depth is greater. It cooks wonderfully and washes up very easily, however, one should apply oil to the pan after usage in order to create the pan's nonstick feature. Although this pan is pricey, it's well worth the money as it will last a very long time and eventually become heirloom cookware. If you're searching for an extra-large cast iron pan with dual handles that can easily cook for more than 4 people, this is the pan for you. When you consider the amount of time and money we invest on our Kitchens, for example our appliances and countertops, Staub Cookware is a no brainer. And I am not a paid endorser of Staub, I am simply a consumer. Read more

I own several pieces of Le Creuset but this Staub Braiser has become my most favored and used pan! Even heating, super easy to clean. Love the cast iron interior. It makes the best roasted chicken ever! You will not believe how beautiful the skin crisps. Plenty of room for a spatchcock chicken as well. A perfect grill pan for roasted vegetables too. My husband has also used it on his Treager with great results. If I could only have one Quality Piece in my collection, this braiser would be it. Read more

What a marvelous pan. If there is anything better to fry in than a Staub pan I don't know what it is....it seems to me I've had one of everything, and they come and go, but the Staub fry and casserole pans stay and stay and stay...they are my "go to" pan and they go with me (to Korea, to Germany, to El Paso!!). For me, Staub pans are easy to maintain. I season them as outlined in the accompanying directions when received, and then prepare fried potatoes with onions for a maiden voyage. Perfection! After dinner I wash the pan and let it dry, then wipe a very thin coating of oil in it before storing. Two weeks or so later I use it again, no sticking, no issues at all. I experience no hot spots and everything in the pan browns evenly. An upside down pineapple cake came out beautifully. I cook with gas at the moment and I like them best with gas cooking only because browning seems better, but they work fine on an electric cooktop. I experienced no issues with a ceramic top either, and certainly they perform well in the oven (both convection and traditional). The investment in Staub pans had paid off for me. Read more

Firstly, I really like Staub cast iron cookware. I own six other pieces. This 13” two handled fry pan would have completed my collection. However, upon examining this pan and comparing it with my other Staub pieces, I was so disappointed with the quality. While the outside of the pan is perfect, the inside is bumpy and rough. The vendor sent me a replacement immediately but sadly the replacement is as rough and bumpy as the first. Also, on both pans, the inside of the handles are rough as if there is no coating. The Staub boxes were wrapped with plastic bubble wrap and there was a RED product sticker on the outside. I hesitate to order another replacement but I really want this pan for roasting. Read more

Buying this was a splurge for me so I was mindful in following the care and cleaning directions. Food sticks to the surface and in trying to remove it (according to the instructions) enamel came off with the food. This was within three months of purchase. I sent a message to the seller but received no response. I tried to season it to cover the bare spots and continue to cook with it, but I know you’re not supposed to. I finally just bit the bullet and got rid of it, and replaced it with a le Creuset braiser that is working beautifully, has been much easier to clean, with a tougher finish. I also have a le Creuset enameled cast iron skillet with the rough black finish like this Staub has and I have never had an issue with the enamel flaking off or damage of any kind. Maybe the Staub finish is just more fragile but for the price I expect better. Read more

What a beautiful pan! Perfect size for large portions. Even heating and cleans up easily. Love the two small handles. It makes handling the pan easier because it is heavy. It stores easier not having a long handle. This is my most used pan and hope to enjoy for years to come. Read more

I can't say enough good things about the Staub cookware. Love this fry pan. Also love, love, love the Staub self-basting La Cocotte. Everything comes out moist and delicious, does not dry out any of the meats like in other pans. Pans are expensive, but they are SO worth it. Will purchase more in the future. Read more
