Second steam goes strong, then it's die out.\n Then it picks up again.\n It doesn't matter and what number I have it at number 2. After 1 day of trying to use it the next day, it wouldn't turn back on. There was power but the green light wouldn't turn on at all. One of the prongs melted off from the power button. I take a loss because something like this it's dangerous, especially when wire melts. Is a fire hazard? UPDATE to original review. I received a replacement unit 24 hrs later which was very impressive but the beset news is that the new unit works! And it started spraying steam in less than 20 seconds! And the adjustment dial works, producing up to a strong stream of steam with the dial set to 6. And it's hot steam (some reviews say steam wasn't hot). Both units came with a pair of ridiculous left-handed gloves of no use to right handed users. The tip and area near it does get very hot one needs gloves to prevent getting burned. I spent about 25 mins on the outside area of my fully tiled shower today & it knocked off built up gunk where the door frame meets the tile. It was disgusting and now looks great except for areas where the black paint of the door frame is chipped off. It's tedious work and slow so I'll be spending several days on this as a project. I briefly tried a few areas of grout inside the shower but can't say yet how good it works on that as the new unit came with no instructions so I don't know which attachment to use. This is not for quick clean-ups. My shower tiles are 4x4 and it will take several days but that's ok with me as long as I can get the grout decent. We've always used a squeegee after our daily showers but the grout still gets discolored with black (mildew?) in some areas. Our shower is enclosed & was built as a steam shower so the glass goes all the way to the ceiling with makes it a bit of a moisture entrapment with less air getting to it after showering. More: The power cord is short so you'll likely need a strong appliance extension cord. The steam hose is pretty long but for my primary shower, I'll have to figure out a safe way to have the unit in the shower as I clean the group as the hose won't be long enough to reach the 8' ceiling height as I'm not crazy about the idea of being in there with an electrical appliance. All in all, I think this will be a nice addition to my cleaning tools! I hope it lasts as some say these poop out after a few uses. I'll update again after I use it a few more times this week & will post before/after pics. ORIGINAL REVIEW: I so wanted this to work but tried it today and, after waiting 10 mins, it never produced any steam. (The instructions say steam will be produced after 20-30 seconds) The top of the unit got very hot & I could smell plastic melting/burning. So I unplugged it, waited for it to cool and tried again. Nothing. Also - the "dial" to increase/decrease volume of steam turned so easily it seemed not to be connected to anything until you turned it to 6 where it seemed to "catch" onto something. So I'm hoping I just got a bad unit with a broken dial. I've ordered a replacement. I'm bummed as already removed the metal baffles from our stove hood in anticipation of the unit working! This one is better than all of the others, by far, because it is user friendly, does not cause pain or fatigue after long-term use, and it’s reservoir holds way more water, allowing for more continuous cleaning instead of frequent stops to refill! I am loving this thing. I have used it on sinks, toilets, floor drain, oven, DW and shower. After cleaning all I have to do is wipe dry. No scrubbing is required. It cleans in all the cracks and crevices. I'm a little leery about Windows. I don't want to crack the glass. It quit after one year. Read more
