Good quality for mixing in smoothies.

Decent matcha for milk shakes. I let it dissolve in the milk for a while first and didn't seem grainy. Decent value for the money. Color wasn't super green but wasn't unappetizing either. Read more

Ingredient Powder

I received this product yesterday and couldn't wait to try making a matcha latte. The taste is really good, almost identical to the matcha powder I had when I traveled to Japan! I highly recommend this matcha powder! Read more

flat tasting matcha

I got the 50g bag of culinary grade matcha, and it is just okay. For the price you can get much better matcha or you can get the same quality as this one for half the cost. I'm used to even culinary grade matcha having a fairly strong flavor but this one tastes mostly flat with a dingy brown color to match. It's bitter but without complexity; it lacks the umami or sweetness that balance good matcha. I'm hesitant to use it in baking because the flavor isn't powerful without adding so much that it becomes acrid. I used it in an almond milk latte and even with a considerable amount of sugar, I couldn't achieve the smooth richness I enjoy from other matcha brands. Read more

Smooth Match Great When on Sale

This $20 matcha powder is pretty good, though it’s a little expensive at full price. That said, it seems to go on sale often, and I’d easily recommend it under $15 for this decent size. It isn’t too bitter, mixes smoothly, and finishes with the expected natural umami sweetness. I mostly used it in smoothies and strawberry matcha lattes. You’ll need to play around with ratios at first, but it’s pretty easy to dial in to what works. Ultimately I’d give it 4.5 but a 5 on sale. Read more

Good Everyday Matcha with a Slight Bitterness

TEAENVOY Matcha Organic Culinary Grade - Sugar-Free Daily Matcha Green Tea Powder USDA & AIB Certified - Matcha for Lattes, Smoothies and Baking - 1.76oz pack This matcha powder worked well for making lattes and for baking matcha brownies. The powder can be a little difficult to dissolve without the right tools but with enough stirring it blends in. Since it is unsweetened I liked being able to control the sweetness. I usually add a little honey which pairs nicely with the matcha flavor. The taste is pleasant overall but it does have a touch more bitterness compared to some of the other matcha powders I have tried. Even so it is a good option for everyday use and it performed well in both drinks and baked goods. It is made in China. Read more

pretty good for culinary grade

I usually use culinary grade matcha in lattes made with almond milk and some sweetener, but I also always taste the powder itself to get an idea of the taste notes before mixing it with anything else. In terms of aroma, this has a pretty faint one with some vague earthy notes. The taste of the powder is complex with earthy flavors and very, very mild grassy and sweet notes. There is a slightly bitter finishing note. I found that the grassiness and bitterness were lost entirely after mixing the powder into my latte, but the slight sweetness is faintly there. I used 1 teaspoon of matcha powder with about 14 oz. of almond milk and it was enough to make a mild-tasting latte which was pleasantly earthy tasting. It was strong enough for my tastes, but people who want a more potent drink may want to reduce the liquid amount. For culinary grade, I found this to be better than average in taste. I use a cup blender to mix mine up and it was nicely foamy and appetizing. All of the powder blended in. In terms of value for money, this is a slightly more expensive culinary grade so it's not the highest value for money given the relatively small amount you get in the packet. However, it is (Japan) organic certified so that may be of importance to some people. The country of origin listed in English on the packet is China, but the writing on the front is Japanese and says essentially "crafted in Japanese style." Read more

Not the Matcha Experience I Hoped For

I’m a big matcha drinker and really wanted to love this, but it just missed the mark. The color looked a bit dull and the taste was off—more earthy than smooth or vibrant. It also didn’t give me the same clean energy boost I usually get from Japanese matcha. Turns out it’s made in China, which might explain the difference in flavor quality. Not bad for baking, but not great for lattes. Read more
