This ThermoPro Instant Read thermometer is fantastic. It gets a temperature reading in about half a second — seriously fast — so I can check steaks, chicken, and even baked goods without waiting forever. The numbers are easy to read, and the probe is sturdy and feels high quality. It’s simple to use right out of the box, and the quick response means I’m not overcooking anything anymore. It’s small enough to keep in a drawer but accurate enough that I grab it every time I cook. High quality, works very well. Very fast temp reading. I actually love how the display flips based on the orientation you’re holding it, it’s more convenient than it sounds. It seems absurd to spend $50, or even $100, on a meat thermometer. But if you want a good thermometer that works quickly and accurately, then the price is just a bullet you'll have to bite. I tested four meat thermometers: this one, the Thermopro Lightning ($45), the Thermopro TP620 ($30), the Thermopro TP19H ($15), and the Thermoworks ThermoPop 2 ($47). Some meat thermometers have some lag between the first displayed reading and the final accurate reading. With the TP19H, this lag is the most pronounced, as it takes between 10 and 20 seconds in many cases to reach an accurate reading. The TP620 and the ThermoPop 2, have less lag, but still take between 5 and 10 seconds to reach an accurate reading. The Thermopro Lightning, however, is a true instant-read thermometer, as it provides a fast initial reading, and the final accurate reading takes no more than two seconds to appear. The Lightning is the only one that I know that I can trust to quickly provide an accurate reading. I find this to be surprising given Thermoworks' reputation, but perhaps their Thermapen ONE, which I did not retest since it retails for $125, is what merits their reputation. For $45, however, the Thermoprop Lightning appears to be mightly close in performance to the much more expensive Thermoworks and is certainly better than the ThermoPop 2 that I tested. The ThermoPop doesn't even have a magnet or hook. All of these thermometers are waterproof under running water. I probably wouldn't put them in the dishwasher, however. The displays on all of these are fine, and I think that the Thermopro Lightning's display stands out quite well. The price might be a little bit higher than some. But for the price, this is really a fantastic unit! The quick read for only one second was exactly something I was looking for. Don’t have to be concerned about moisture because of it being really sealed. It looks like it’s rugged and the display, Easy to use. Great thermometer. It takes temps really fast. The display will shift if you are holding it from your left or right hand. The prong folds in to the side so it hides the sharp point! Only thing is cleaning it can be a little tedious because of the small crevasses. But by using a toothpicks, it can easily get things out. I will update once I use this for a year. Read more

I like this, much quicker to get the reading than any of the other thermometers I own. I was debating between this and the more expensive brands, glad I went with this. It matches in temp to any of my other ones, but it is faster, back lit and I like that the screen rotates automatically based on how you are holding it. The magnet is strong so I can put it on the grill frame while cooking. I’d say a great value and no complaints for me. Read more
