Within the limited time of owning both this accessory and it's corresponding tripod, I have to say for the price, as compared to its more expensive counterparts, this center column is extremely stable. I knew with it's diameter it should be, and it is. I've had this fully extended photographing a waterfall and there was no extended noticable shake when fiddling with the camera controls. This could not be said for my previous, much smaller and cheaper tripod, which was VERY shakey when fully extended. This was with my 15-85mm lens which enherently would display less noticable shake especially towards the 15mm end. But I have tried with my 70-300 as well and even then the shake was not prolonged, hinting at the stability of my rig. With my previous setup, even attempting to focus manually was all but impossible due to the constant shake. Not here though. As long as you are on stable hard ground, you have a firm base all the way up to your camera. So far, I really can't find a negative about this center column. Closest I can come up with is that at full extension, you better have a fully articulating rear screen to be able to see your composition, be near a tall rock or bring a step stool, because at 6'2" myself, I could not see anything without this feature. Not really a negative though as this is one of the many reasons I decided to purchase this tripod and this center column specifically. Read more

These are well made. The shaft is very rigid and the handles work well. I am very happy with this purchase. Read more

I didn't know this was an option for my Innorel RT-90C tripod when I bought it; it was several months later when I saw an ad for the column online. The tripod has turned out to be more than I need, but it is solid and I like to use it. With the center column, I now have a complete package. Like the tripod, it is built well, no slop or unfinished edges. Quality is very good, but like the tripod, a little on the heavy side. Read more

This is actually a good addition to your INNOREL tripod. Sturdy mount to the 75 mm socket, extra thick graphite carbon tubing, and solid compression make it a good addition to my RT-90C tripod. If you want some kind of gimbaled action, you'll need to add a ball head to the top. Actually, the RT90 75mm bowl gimbal has a limited degree of motion, but it is very sturdy for heavy loads. I usually elect to keep that in place as it's quick to adapt angles and viewing position. The 90 already adapts to taller than my 6-foot height needs, but for other INNOREL interrupt tripods that don't go so tall this would be a great addition, especially if your application requires simple height translation as opposed to adjusting the tripod legs. I mounted a rather large 60 mm spotting scope and it was extremely stable, and even mounted a 20+ pound rifle to this riser (with all the torque that such a mounting adds), no problem. I recommend the center column, but don't ignore the versatility of the 75 mm bowl gimbal bull that comes with the tripod itself. Read more

Some people do not prefer center post tripods. I photograph birds, preferably, song birds. I need to adjust the height of my tripod sometimes very quickly. The center post allows me to do that without having to move three legs up or down evenly. This post does not slip and is very stable. Read more

This is just an option for the full tripod which is by far the best I've ever had and I've had them all Gitzo, Manfrotto, etc. The tripod this matches is simply the best Read more

It is not light but it is study, giving you a very good heights to shoot over people and provide a different prospective. It is probably overkill but I wanted the extra heights. The only reason I did not rate it a 5 overall was the set screw on the top plate is very hard to impossible to use, I have not seen any diminished sturdiness as a result, but good luck figuring out how to use it Read more
