Be careful when installing the hooks. The threaded section is much longer than the hole is deep. Just snug the hook then tighten the nut against the fixture. I marked a screwdriver to the depth of the hole. I hung one of these kind of low just for testing and it produced a good amount of down lighting. To cover a large area it needs to be hung high. I used the other one for a couple of nights in my shop doing some assembly work. I hug it on a hook about 7 feet high and it was great. No need to turn on the rest of my shop lights and gave me the extra lighting I needed. I expected a lot of heat but didn't feel much. I checked the temperature with a "heat spy" gun and the hottest reading was about 136F. These are much slimmer than others I have. I don't know if that is good or bad, just worth pointing out. We needed a couple of lights in the center of part of our workshop loft, and thought these would be perfect. We have some larger UFO lights on the high ceilings in the other part of the workshop. They'd be too much for this area, and 150 watts seems to be about perfect. The ceiling in the area we installed them is just under 12', but even with allowing for a little hanging space for air circulation they're doing a good light spread. They're sturdily built and the fins keep them from getting too hot. They come pre-wired with a 5' cord and 3-prong plug. The safety cords these type of lights (and specifically these particular lights) come with has saved a couple of lights from tragic falls while adjusting things or moving long items in the workshop.
