This item appears to be working, although there continues to be something not working properly. At this point I am not certain it has anything to do with the sensor. Background, the old sensor was not working at all. This sensor sometimes the oven is very slow to reach temp setting. May require some manipulation of the setting. Other times it will reach temperature with no issues. I do have, something to work with. Therefore, with no ability to test the circuit properly, I am in a better position with the sensor than without. I will purchase a new range before replacing the control circuit board. Read more

Although some people have said this product was good, I didn't have that experience. It lasted for 10 days then it failed. Thankfully I was only in to it for $15. A appliance repair guy came by and he not only told me that a sheet of aluminum foil at the bottom of the oven (acting as a drip shield) was one of my problems because the element was below that and the foil was shielding the heat from getting into the oven thus contributing to the sensor issues. The guy took off the oven floor and showed me where the element had not only warped at spots but also created three bright spots in the element indicating it was going bad, meaning that according to Murphy's Law, it will go out at the worst possible time so have a spare available to replace it yourself (super easy to do). I located an actual Whirlpool sensor and that will be arriving today (also super easy to replace). FYI, make sure that the actual replacement sensor has printed on it "WHIRLPOOL" to know you got a quality part. Fortunately, Amazon has a Whirlpool sensor. Read more
Please see attached pictures of the original sensor. This is what the sensor should look like. Notice the way it has a double crimp. That enables the sensor tube to be inserted into the hole in back of the stove. The sensor I bought, subject of this review HAS this double crimp, so it does indeed fit. A perfect match to the original sensor pictured. Not only did it fit, but it works too. New sensor was high quality with appropriate fiberglass thermal shielding for the wires. I write all this because the previous sensor I bought last week only had a single crimp at the end of the tube that essentially only spread out the end or flattened it, and it didn’t fit at all because it was too wide. No worries with this sensor. Its installed and my wife is happily using her oven again. By the way. I had to replace the sensor because the “broil” (upper) element stayed on during the bake cycle, burning everything! Read more

Here’s how it went down: my wife casually mentions, “The oven feels hotter than one of my perimenopause hot flashes.” That’s not a statement you ignore unless you enjoy sleeping on the couch and eating cold cereal for dinner. So I did what any self-respecting husband/handyman-in-training would do. I found this thermostat, cross-referenced part numbers like I was decoding the Da Vinci Code, and ordered it faster than you can say “Amazon Prime”. Installation? Easy. The hardest part was pulling the oven out of the wall without throwing out my back or scratching the floor, but that’s just part of the ritual. Swapped the part, pushed it back, flipped the breaker, and BOOM…temperature regulation restored. The oven now heats like it should, my wife’s happy, and I’ve retained my “domestic hero” status for another week. Quality seems solid, feels identical to the OEM part, and best of all, the house no longer smells like burnt regret. 5/5 stars would recommend to anyone whose oven thinks it’s auditioning for a role in Dante’s Inferno.
