When I first tried these shorts on, I wasn't crazy about the way they looked. The fabric is very lightweight and its appearance is more what I would expect from a pair of trousers rather than shorts. The fabric does not have a casual look, and the pull tabs on the zippers looked out of place to me. I removed the pull tabs and that solved the problem. The shorts have three deep zippered pockets with plenty of room for a phone and other essentials. The waistband is comfortable and stays in place. They fit true to size. The Viodia Women's 9''/11'' Hiking Shorts are a win for me. They aren't perfect, but they do fit. As an older woman with curves I usually avoid the thin athletic shorts. They are often cut slim - for athletes, I guess. Having recently lost some weight, now at 206 and 5'1" I thought I would try them. And yes, they fit! I chose a 2x to allow for that possibility that they could be slim, and I'm glad I did. Also, I'm short, so I chose the 9 inch length. These go to my knees, which is good. The 11 inch length would have been too long for my preference. These are a little bit stretchy, for movement and comfort- like when I'm being athletic ;-) . The pockets on these shorts are deep- my hand goes in past my wrist. All of the zippers function smoothly and have pull cords on them. This is a very lightweight summer fabric that will surely dry quickly. The fabric is almost completely wrinkle free too. Ordered the 9" inseam in size Large, color Tibetan Blue Grey - and I love these. For reference, I’m about 5’1”, around 200 lbs, and 4 months postpartum. Finding shorts that fit comfortably right now is not easy, and these are a win. The Large fits great- comfortable but not baggy. The waistband is really good. It’s supportive without feeling tight, and it has a real drawstring (not just decorative), which I appreciate. I can actually adjust it how I need. The three zipper pockets are excellent. The zipper pulls feel high quality, not flimsy, and the pockets themselves are generous. I can easily fit my phone and keys without worrying about them falling out. The fabric feels well made and durable but still comfortable. Overall these feel thoughtfully designed and higher quality than I expected.
