I purchased this since I started doing mobile mechanic as a side hustle for friends/coworkers. I learned how to utilize this kit from a YouTube video coming from shop A/C machines that does all of the work for you. I’ve used this kit at least 15 times in the past year and it is worth every dollar because it’s made a lot of money for me from all of the A/C repairs and recharges. Never had an issue so far. Successfully evacuated and recharged our '04 Yukon with this yesterday. I would rate it 5 stars if I didn't have to modify the refrigerant canister taps to make them work. Specifically, it's the rubber gasket inside these taps - they're too thick, which prevents the stem from depressing the valve on the canisters deep enough. My other tap - not from Amazon - is the same way; I suspect they're all like this for some, probably-EPA-inspired reason. I found a YouTube "hack" which worked beautifully: remove that gasket and replace with an o-ring (I happen to have a set of green, automotive o-rings on hand, also from Amazon). This reduced the "headspace" enough for the valve stem to fully penetrate the self-sealing valve on the canister. Also, the low side gauge doesn't read accurately (it's only off by maybe 5mmHg). I hooked up the high side gauge to the low side port to confirm. But it's "good enough" for my purposes, which is maybe one recharge per year :). IT DOES WORK and, for a set that includes both the gauges AND the pump, it's a fair price in my opinion. HOT TIP: once you have your tap installed on the refrigerant canister, screw the valve clockwise (Schrader valves are reversed :) slowly into the can until you hear a hiss. Back it off a tiny bit to close the valve. Once you're all hooked up, open the valve (screw it in) 1 1/2 turns. That seemed to be the sweet spot for my unit, anyway. When I opened that valve too far - i.e. screwed it in two or more full turns - the flow actually decreased somehow. I learned that, in 2018, the EPA mandated that these canisters must ship with self-sealing valves - it's an absurd pain in the backside which has no doubt resulted in MORE escaped gas than the previous, puncture-type canisters. This kit ships with a tap for the puncture type, too, so be sure to use the tap with the BLUNT tip on these post-2018 canisters, not the pointy one :). Read more

We bought this because we got tired of paying $2000 to fix the A.C. of the car. We got the A.C running and found the issue because of this machine. My A.C was good for about 4 months because we realized my car has a leak that needs a mechanic it can't be fixed at home. But if you are tight on budget and need to DIY this will help with a YouTube video to help you use it. Read more

I am impressed and happy with this AC service kit made by Vivohome. It's decent quality for the price and great for the home mechanic or DIY'er. I spent about an hour watching videos on youtube that walked me through how to use these repair tools and diagnose AC systems and was able to then easily use it to fix the air conditioning in a Chevrolet Malibu that was blowing hot air. Two additional items I recommend purchasing are a digital scale to weigh your refrigerant cans (so you know how many oz's of refrigerant the vehicle has sucked in) and an automotive thermometer that you put in a vent to know the temperature of the air coming out. I'm really pleased with this and it pays for itself if you use it to make one repair compared to paying a mechanic. I did not try using the AC leak detector so I can't speak to that. Read more
