Wusthof IKON knives are not cheap but... Sharp enough to shave with, but that's not the best of it. Because the blade extends (one piece of metal) all the way to the end of the handle, the knives are stable and balanced, and so they're easy to use. The bread knife is amazing! I can cut my homemade bread as thin as I want and the knife stays straight and true, resulting in an evenly-thick (and very thin) slice. The chef's knife is hands-down better than another brand's best (now relegated to the back of the drawer). The block is beautiful and solid. It now sits proudly on my counter. Get over the price... it's worth every penny! Read more

this knife set is next level from the first Wusthof set I bought. There is a quantum leap from one level to the next. A sharp knife is amazing to use. Sharp knives don't cut people, dull knives do. And these hold their edge. With a quick run across a steel the edge is maintained. I did this.............after 2 months of using them. One is not the same as the other. I hate it but, if someone wants a quality knife one has to spend the money. I bought the first set 20 years ago. But if I wasn't home to sharpen them regularly, they got dull. This set? It doesn't dull so easily. Read more

Amazing quality! I have purchased cheap knife sets for years and always done decent for awhile until they break, but after purchasing these I am amazed! They are incredibly sharp and quality built! I don’t have to struggle to cut through things anymore, super pricey but I look at it as a major investment that I will last me for many many years to come and won’t have to go buy cheap knifes anymore! Definitely worth the investment, wish I had bought long ago and saved the years of frustration with cheap knives. Read more

My wife and I cook non-stop. We had an old set of knives that one day squished a lime before cutting it...that was the last straw. I did a few weeks of research and came to the conclusion that Wusthof was the best value. They are right up there in quality with any other knife, but are priced much better than some of the others of the same quality. The Wusthof website also offers a lot of help for those who need it regarding maintaining your knives - telling you the difference between honing and sharpening and how often to do each and HOW to do each. 1 week in these knives are great. We've cooked every night and these knives just flat-out get the job done. Meats, vegetables, anything...these knives make it easy. They also are great for cutting thin slices when you need it. So far, we couldn't be more pleased. Initially - the chef's knife came with a tiny chip in the blade near the top, but I contacted the seller and they already have a replacement chef's knife on the way with a return label for the chipped knife. If they didn't take care of it, I called Wusthof USA and they said they would take care of it. Really good to know the service is that great. Read more

I bought my first Classic IKON chef's knife about a year ago, and love the balance of the knife and the edge that it takes. Decided to go all-in on a set. This is a very good value! The individual chef's knife was about half the cost of this entire set. I also have a set of Wusthof Gourmets, which are good, but don't take as good an edge or have the same balance in the hand. These blades are forged vs. stamped and you can actually hear the difference on the honing steel. The Gourmets don't quite ring the way the Classic IKON blades do. Read more

I've always been a fan of wusthof, and so, with me starting a new chapter in life, moving out, I bought these as my kitchen essential. I owned one previously but not a block set, so this was very nice to have as a starting kitchen item. I picked the classic ikon because of the weight provided. I love heavy knives and I can't go back to the ones that doesn't provide weight. But like always, please take care of your knives. If you only use them at home and not at a restaurant setting, you don't have to sharpen with a whetstone very often. Just sharpen it right and well one time, and use the hone tool the rest of the way. You should only need to sharpen your knives a few times a year. Always wipe down your knives dry after hand washing to prevent rust. Do not stick it in the dish washer. If you don't know how to sharpen or hone, look up videos and there are whetstone angle tools out there for you to buy if you look around. Take care of your kitchen babies. Read more

Hard without chipping, edge retention is slightly worse than expected, needs rehoning/sharpening about 1-2 times a month with moderate usage on mostly light duty (vegetable potato and protein) tasks. Still, that effort is rewarded by being the sharpest knives I own. Get these knowing you'll still need to sharpen them *regularly* and you won't be disappointed. Go in expecting to sharpen 2-3x a year and woe is you. Read more
