I've always heard that this company makes great quality knives. Don't be fooled into buying this set. Yes - they are sharp, but the quality is terribly lacking. I expected for the nearly $300 I spent (more with tax) to get a knife set of much better quality. First, the block is a "fits all" block. The upper knives fit loosely and there is an extra space. The finish on the block (see photo) is lacking. Look at the lower part of the block. The steak knives are thin and three are already showing signs of rust. They've never been in the dishwasher but also don't lay them in a wet sink. I guess that's what's causing the rust. So, every time that you use one you should immediately wash and dry it and return it to that nasty block. Look closely at the dimensions listed on the smaller knives and think about how small that blade actually is. In my opinion they should all be about an inch longer. Careful when using the honing steel - if you hit the knife wrong you will scar the knife steel. I had been looking for a new set of knives for quite a while, and my twenty-year-old Chicago Cutlery set is just as good or better. I'm just past the return window, but hopefully someone from the manufacturer will see this and attempt to make it right. If you're considering this set - think again. They get two stars for being sharp out of the box. I wonder how long that will last. Read more
