This was a Christmas gift for my foodie recent college grad nephew. I’ve personally been a fan of Wüsthof knives for a long time. They do what I need them to which is to cut well. I like that they’re still made in Europe as opposed to china. They sharpen well and hold their edges. Good knives a one of the most important tools for cooking! And honestly IMO you really only *need* a few knives. A good chef’s knife, a good paring knife, and a serrated knife for bread/ tomatoes etc. This fits 2/3! TLDR: GREAT value Read more

I'm going to be honest with you, I don't know jack about knives, except that Wustof is really good. My boyfriend happens to be the chef in our relationship, and he told me he wanted a good chef's knife for chirstmas. I'm a good girlfriend, so of course I'm going to go straight to the top for him. He said he'd be perfectly happy with a lower-end brand, but I would rather pay more for a good knife now rather than have to keep buying more down the the road. I saw this amazing deal and snagged them up. This knife set (even being a starter set and all) sent my boyfriend over the moon. When he used the chef's knife for the first time, he used it to slice up halfway-thawed boneless, skinless chicken breast, and the first thing he said was "ew." Apparently, these knives are so sharp that it almost feels unnatural when cutting something. I will let you decide whether that's a pro or a con! We have had no problems with them so far. He uses these knives almost every day. They feel very nice, they look beautiful, and they perform on a whole other level than what we've ever experienced! I also bought the Wustof knife sharpener block, but haven't had to use that just yet. Probably won't need to any time soon. I find it very unlikely that we will ever go back from these. I would say it was well worth the money! Read more

The kitchen knife is solid, the paring knife feels too flimsy to be confident in. Grew up using my mom's Henkel chef's knife for cutting vegetables and stuff, now that I'm building out my own kitchen I decided I wanted to invest in a quality piece of steel that would last for a long time. For the $100 price tag I was hoping for a little bit more weight/heft to the chef's knife, although I'm happy with the edge and the quality of the steel. If you're price sensitive, it'd be worth to just get the chef's knife by itself. Read more

YOU GUYS! This is an incredible value for such a powerful knife set. OF course my hubby did the research in finding this set because after months of me complaining about needing a new set of knives that can actually cut something versus squishing it as it macerates (kidding, not kidding) he found these and y'all... I can cut a friggen TOMATO with either of the two knives! I've been so accustomed to using a serated edge knife for cutting into soft fruits and veggies that I couldn't believe my eyes with how perfect each slice came out. Highly recommend this set if you're looking for an upgrade without breaking the bank. The partner that cooks in the relationship will THANK YOU! Maybe even make you a fancy dinner just because they can. ;) Read more
