Filters water as intended. Compared to a brita, this makes our tap water taste clean and tasteless, almost like bottle water, however there are definitely a few complaints and misinformations from the ads and its features. This product has flaws in its functionality and usage. 1. Expect this unit to run noisy at random times. You will definitely hear a fan running during whatever self flushing feature it’s on at random times of the day. The noise will go for a few minutes to tens of minutes. 2. You will not get 50* of cold water, it may show it maybe a few times, but it will not feel like 50* cold, or be consistent, I have only seen 50* once, for a few minute at the start of use, now it’s stuck at 59 and occasionally 57 degrees after a refill. There is absolutely no way to adjust the temp below 59, so whatever cooling function this unit has. It isn’t consistent reliable. 3. Will not dispense Boil hot temperature 203*. With a thermometer, testing the hot temp feature I was only able to get water between 150-160 degrees. Other users seems to have the exact same results. 4. Constant refilling: though the water tank appears big, this system is poorly designed to have the “waste” water and the “fresh water” tank in the same tank. Once you filter to the minimal level, you are instructed to pour out the the waste water (1/4th of the tank) and fill it back with tap water. You will be refilling and flushing the tank very frequently. 5. Safety feature disables the use of product? From what I’m noticing, the water will not dispense water in the pitcher if the fresh water tanks needs to be refilled or flushed. Therefore even if your filtered pitcher has water, you will need to manually pour it to get water, or spend the time to flush the waste and refill the tank. Reduced the ease of use and efficiency of the unit. Other than a fancy design, clear and clean taste of water. This is pretty much nothing more than an expensive $400-500 gimmick. The Waterdrop RO unit is compact, easy to install, economic in water use and very economic in new filter replacement. This filter takes seconds to replace without turning off the water or disconnecting any hoses. Only this RO filter and the Carbon filter in the compact unit need to be replaced annually in the case of very hard local municipal water. I had measured the TDS of the tap water as high as 500ppm during the drought when more local well water was blended with higher quality spring water and now 350ppm after the record rainfall. The TDS from the RO unit after the remineralizer is around 150ppm, with no visible scale or deposits in the hot water kettle that is used continually in the kitchen.
