Good little external drive. It does NOT come with instructions but not necessary if your familiar with your operating system. This Drive is PC formatted but if your an Apple user ( like me ), you need to reformat the WD external drive for Apple in order to transfer saved pictures, movies etc. My attached photo shows the Disk Utility program on my old late 2009 IMac. I used this program in my applications to do a one time reformat for Apple software. It was quick and easy to do. To be honest, I cheated and used YouTube on how to do this. As stated, my “ old IMac “ was able to do this operation fast and use the drive. The transfer of large volumes of pictures, movies and documents were very fast. Reviews of this drive being slow are the results of either a defective drive or poor operating PC do to user error. This external drive is small enough to fit in your purse, but large enough to fit every family photo and video you have ever taken and so much more. Never had any problems. I needed an external drive for my Windows 10 PC backup. This one looked like the perfect solution. When I first connected it, the installation screen opened, but the installation failed repeatedly. I was going to return the drive, but I waited overnight to try one more time. The following day, I was able to see the drive on my pc, but I could do nothing with it. I was able to format the drive, but not make it function. As a last resort before returning it, I visited the Western Digital website and discovered I could download the software from the site.
