We ordered this microwave for our TV room. OK, so mostly what we need this for is to make popcorn. You would think any old microwave would be fine for making popcorn, but we had one that burned it every single time so we were still popping popcorn in the kitchen while the microwave collected dust in the TV room. This one makes great popcorn, but also takes up less space! It has all kinds of new fangled features like a keep warm setting and it is self cleaning with a steam clean function! It doesn’t make a lot of noise so that is also a nice quality for a Tv/Theater room. It is small and I don’t know if it would be as useful as the lone microwave in a kitchen, but it’s a great secondary one that will probably last forever. Everything feels like good quality , as you would expect from Whirlpool. It’s slightly more expensive than other similar sized microwaves, but worth it if you will use the extra features. And Whirlpool is a respected American brand. Read more

So I live in an apartment and my apartment complex microwave that it came with is very outdated and rusting from the inside. Yes, I have contacted our maintenance crew to give us a new one but the last time I did that they gave us an old and used one and just cleaned it out. So I gave up on them and decided to buy my own. This whirlpool microwave is just like any other microwave. It does what it’s supposed to do. Heat up really well. Has multiple two different settings that I don’t necessarily use on microwaves nine times out of 10 but the one feature that I find really interesting that I’ve never used or never seen on the microwave is the unlock feature. So when you put your food in the microwave and you press the timer to start heating your food, it will lock your food in the microwave. Now I’m assuming the feature is due to kids and make sure to prevent them from getting hot food out the microwave, but this is the most annoying feature ever if I’m being honest. Do you have a hold the unlock button for three seconds to open the microwave? So every time I have to get my food out just to mix it. I have to press and hold that button then press to open the door button and then get out my food and then put it back in. Otherwise this microwave is just like any other microwave. It’s a pretty good size microwave easy to clean. You can put it anywhere, without it taking too much space. Read more

It's a great little microwave! I’ve been using the Whirlpool WMCS3018RB countertop microwave for a while now, and it’s been a solid, no‑nonsense appliance. It heats food evenly, the controls are straightforward, and it’s powerful enough that I rarely need to run anything twice. The only hiccup I ran into was the control lock turning on unexpectedly (or by default?), which made it ask me to “press unlock” before opening the door — but once I learned how to disable it, the microwave went right back to being simple and reliable. Overall, it’s not flashy, but it does exactly what I need it to do and feels like it’ll last. For Everyone that finds the unlock requirement annoying, like me: To turn the lock OFF (disable it): Press and hold the “Control Lock” button for 3 seconds. - The display will beep - The “locked” message will disappear - The door will open normally again This is the official method Whirlpool lists for disabling the lock. This countertop microwave does exactly what a microwave should do—heats up food evenly, thaws frozen items without issue, and is easy to use. The 700 watts is plenty for everyday use, and the compact 0.7 cu. ft. size is perfect for a smaller kitchen, office, or dorm. I also really like the steam clean feature. It makes cleanup quick and easy, which is a nice bonus you don’t always see on smaller microwaves. Overall, it’s straightforward, reliable, and does all the right microwave things without any fuss. Well-made and with all of the features you would expect from a larger microwave. When they say 700 watts they are accurate. I used this machine on a 1500-watt Solar generator with no problems at all. The power consumption was very small making the unit perfect for travel events. The unit comes with ample instructions on the various functions. If you are looking for a smaller unit that will not take up much counter space, (useful in small apartments) then this is exactly what you are looking for. One other note* I couldn't help but admire the design safety feature for children, the unit has a two button press solution so the door cannot be opened without first pushing the secondary door button. This keeps little hands from opening a hot item in the microwave. Designers, please take a bow. I luv this unit. I give it a well deserved 5 stars. Read more

This is a small compact microwave with all the common features found in other brands. Like most users, I hardly ever use the presets. I just hit start, and open the door when I think it's ready. The 30 sec. feature is useful; press a single button and it will start for 30 seconds, press again and it adds another 30 seconds. I do have to comment on the 2-step door open feature another reviewer mentioned. Apparently it's now a U.L. requirement, but is easily disabled, it's all in the instruction manual. Even so, you would just press the stop button first, then the door release. In fact you press and hold for 3 seconds only as part of the disabling process. So this microwave works fine and has lots of convenient features (I don't use). Build quality on par with this price range. Easy read display and touch pad, even an option to mute the annoying beeps with every press. Fairly small, maybe not for larger cooking situations with larger families, great for apartments. I still have confidence in Whirlpool, but yes this particular appliance is made in China. Read more
