This is a review of Whirlpool 0.9 cu. ft. Stainless Steel Countertop Microwave With Steam Clean - 900 watt This stainless steel microwave looks so good with the rest of our stainless steel appliances. More important is that it feels so luxurious after our old microwave, which limping along not working well for over a year. This machine has the basic functions I need: an easy way to set a specific number of seconds (for example, 10 seconds to revive a stale muffin), and a +30 seconds button to quickly add more cook time. It has buttons I have not used in the past but that many people do use: preprogrammed buttons for reheat, popcorn, potato, etc. My husband had complained about the popcorn button on our old, fancier microwave, saying that button always left too many kernels. This popcorn button does the same, so he will continue to set the cook time for his microwave popcorn. The turntable is large enough to put a dinner plate on and it is tall enough to accommodate our various mugs. I love being able to put the turntable in the dishwasher, and I love the steam clean feature. The door comes programmed with what is basically a kiddie lock, though in our house it is more like an ‘absent minded’ adult lock. After cooking, you have to press the ‘stop’ button before opening the door to prevent accidental opening of the door. The manual explains how to disable this feature, but so far we have not found it hard to press ‘stop/unlock.’ And it is a good feature if you live with children or absent minded adults. I have never cooked in my microwave. All I really do is reheat (tea, leftovers), defrost, soften (butter), and melt (chocolate, butter). For me, this is a great microwave. I can try out those preprogrammed buttons or I can do what I like best, put in the cook time I know I want. Our whirlpool appliances have held up well in the past so I have confidence in this one. This is a perfect compact microwave for a small space. For me, it will be a great addition to a basement living space. Great for home or the office. This little microwave has all the features of my big Whirlpool over the stove microwave but compressed into a size that will conserve your counter space. Most importantly, the interior space is adequate to handle your needs. I showed a large dinner plate in the photo to give you an idea of the size. It will handle a round casserole dish just fine. Just doing a test to heat water in a mug, the 900 watt microwave took 64 degree tap water to over 180 degrees in two minutes. It has a steam clean function which could be handy if you have a spatter mess that dries inside the oven. Because this is a new model it also has the two-step process to open the door after cooking for safety. This microwave would make a great gift for newlyweds with a small kitchen or for college students moving into a rental. My Whirlpool microwaves in the past have given me years of care free service, and I expect this one will not be any different. Good value for a quality appliance. Read more

I couldn't be happier with new Whirlpool microwave; it has become an essential part of my office. Because I have very limited space, I needed something compact yet durable and this model fits perfectly on my side table without taking over the room. Despite its small footprint, the 900 watts of power are more than enough to heat up my coffee or a quick lunch in a flash. It has been good for my productivity since I no longer have to stop working or head to the break room to get hot lunch or coffee. Beyond its performance, the microwave looks very nice and professional. The stainless steel finish is modern and polished, so it blends right in with my office. It’s also incredibly easy to maintain thanks to the "Steam Clean feature", which keeps the interior looking like new with very little effort. We ordered this Whirlpool microwave because we’ve been wanting to downsize our microwave for a while, and this one has been fantastic. At first glance it didn’t look much smaller than our old one but once we took it out of the box and put it in its spot, the difference was very noticeable. It takes up much less space and gives us a lot more counter space, which was exactly what we wanted! This microwave is a little different from others I’ve used. Instead of just pulling the door open, you hold a button for a second to unlock and open the door. It took a moment to get used to but I actually like it now and think it’s a nice feature. The buttons are easy to use, and it heats food evenly and efficiently. Everything warms up like it should without cold spots. The price is great and it’s the perfect size. It’s has just enough power for most of my needs. You can adjust the power. The popcorn feature is useful for me. I like the 30 second increment feature on the start button, similar to professional ones. Read more
