After years of buying various knives for kitchen use, I received one Wusthof knife as a Christmas gift. It was transformational in terms of kitchen work. What a difference! The knife is comfortable, and it cuts through meat and vegetables so smoothly and easily without any 'tearing'. I was so impressed, I spent the money to get this entire knife set. My wife started to use them and had the same experience - she could not believe we lived all these years with lower quality kitchen knives. I had been drooling over this set of knives for a long time when I finally said what the heck after a couple glasses of wine. I haven't regretted it for a second, and wish I'd had too many glasses of wine and Amazon shopped earlier in my life. Not only is this the sexiest thing on my countertop (sorry, espresso machine and Vitamix!) but they cut like a dream. Just be careful because while they are sexy AF, they are also sharp AF. Definitely cut myself a couple of times, including one time my finger turned blue I bandaged it so tightly. Needless to say, I now respect the knives and their ability to cut my flesh just as easily as a good filet. Read more
I hesitated on spending so much money on a set of knives but i splurged and did it...and couldn't be happier, they are by far the best set of knives you will ever own. I will never need any knives again, this set has every knife you could want in a home. I agree with previous reviews that there should be more steak knives, possibly 6-8, it only comes with 4. If you can afford the set you won't regret it and you will never need to buy knives again. Read more
This is a fantastic knife set that contains a complete set of knives for most home chefs. The knives are beautiful with a modern look and feel and of the highest quality. I had the Wustoff Classic set prior to this set which was also very good. These are a notch above, however. You will not be disappointed with these knives! Read more
The block came in mashed up on the side, with no visible damage to the box. The kitchen shears and honing knife both proudly exclaim Made In China, not Germany. When I am paying this much, this either needs to be Germany or disclosed, especially when this is 2/15 pieces. The wood block doesn't list where it's made customer support said China. This is disgusting considering the price tag but supposedly they are sending a replacement. The actual knives are great though. Read more
No doubt about it: these are superb knives; however I was mildly disappointed to see that the handles are not glossy as they appear in the photo. The finish is actually a dead flat black. Also, the utility knives do not rest in a neat, orderly fashion in the block, i.e., some will be crooked in the block if you do not take the trouble to align them. It's as if the slots for those particular knives are too large. This may seem a trivial thing to complain about, but I like an orderly house and especially an orderly kitchen - so a small detail like this matters to me. If it doesn't matter to you, this detail won't bother you. As I said , these are superb as cutting tools. I thought my previous set was sharp, but these knives redefine what it means to be sharp. They will change your life, especially if you lose a finger as you may if you're not very careful when using them. Read more
Love this set. Not inexpensive, but a literal steel light sabre. Sharp! Great feel in the hand and heavy enough to make slicing easy. Get a good whetstone, and you'll be set. Read more
