I was noticing that every time I wore my insulated duck boots, my hip started hurting. I looked at them, and realized the narrow heel and tight toes were making me change my stride. So, I looked at some different barefoot brands to try and find a flatter, warm winter boot. This one has worked great for walking in snow, going sledding, and does decently well on ice. They are nice and warm. I've worn them in high teens with a medium weight wool sock, and my feet have been toasty! The waterproofing is holding up fine, but I've only had these for a month. I've worn them almost every day, though! They are very flat, but comfy. They do run a little narrow, but fit my foot well. I normally wear a 9 in boots, but had to order a 10.5 in this brand! So, if you are a lady with a larger foot, you might need to order the men's in this style. Overall, I'm very happy with these! Kind of feels like going out to play in the snow in comfy, secure slippers! I have large, painful bunions on my feet that require me to wear flatter shoes (I'm only 31, but have been this way forever), and these allowed room for my bunion with no straps or pressure going over that area. Lovely boots in terms of fit/wide toe. They are comfortable and flexible. I had a quality issue on the straps as one of them detached from the ankle. The boots function okay with the damage but water resistance is lessened and the insole detached as a result. I waited too long to ask about a return and so will have to just deal with it and maybe wax them. My husband/son also got a pair around the same time and they haven't had strap issues so it is likely a manufacturing defect in that particular boot. I still use them every day, but drying them out is part of the routine for all of us on wetter days. The boots are not suitable for -10C and are cold on the under foot at that temp even with extra thick socks. They are definitely not water proof enough for sloppy slush/snow conditions. Would be a good autumn boot. I will be looking for different boots for next winter. Read more

I have a pair in black, and purchased this pair for my daughter to wear during the snowy Winter months for college when she has a long walk from the parking lot into the school. She loves hers as much as I love mine! Comfy, warm, and good traction. Read more

I normally wear 7.5 shoes, and the length of that size worked well for my feet. They fit too widely for my taste, though, which makes my feet slide around inside when I'm on uneven terrain. My feet are average width and I have an arch, so these boots might be more comfortable for someone with wide, flat feet. For reference, Merrell vapor gloves fit me really well. My first hike was through a dewy forest, and my feet got completely soaked even though I was wearing long rain pants over the tops. It wasn't even raining, so the boots are not even a little bit waterproof. I get severe knee pain with any sort of heel drop, and I was looking for an alternative to the big-heeled hiking boots I normally wear to work in the PNW. These unfortunately aren't as form fitting as I'd like, aren't waterproof, and I question their ability to hold up on rough terrain, but they are okay for now. Read more

Excellent grip on slick surfaces and uneven ground. For the price could use a zipper & more padding for concrete sidewalks. As for waterproof: I have not been in the rain with them, but walked through wet grass. Will probably spray them with water repellent during rainy season. I happy with the size recommended by Amazon . If you want multiple pairs of socks on, I would suggest a half size larger. Would buy them again. Read more

As a person with a wider toebox, I’ve always struggled to find shoes and boots that don’t squeeze my toes. I finally found Altra for sneakers and will never go back. However, I was still in search of winter boots. My husband mentioned Xero and that they now make a winter boot, and I quickly ordered a pair. Despite feeling like a pair of awesome lightweight sneakers (which I actually LOVE that they do) these boots are so toasty warm -almost a little too toasty. We haven’t had snow yet since I bought them so I can’t wait to try them out when we finally do. I live in Connecticut in normally we have tons of snow, but this has been a really mild winter . I think I have finally found a winter boot for myself. Even if I end up having to get a pair of duck boots for deep snow, these boots will always be my go to and for winter walks . Also, I’ve had so many people complement me on how cute they are, and wanted to know what the brand was. Hope my review is helpful if you are contemplating trying these babies. Read more
