I ordered this to hold my iPad and attach it to a small works station in my workshop. I do laser engraving in the shop and my laptop takes up most of the surface area of the work station. This works great. It holds my iPad which is the 10.9 inch version, while in it case with no issues. Its sturdy enough to keep it in place even when I bump it or bump the workstation from time to time. It holds the tablet stead enough that I can work on it while its mounted. A side benefit that I was not intending on using this mount for was that it also holds my phone when I'm not using it for the iPad. I wanted a mount to have my iPad Pro positioned at my desk, so if I was doing any kind of art work, or, watching videos at my desk on it, to be situated where I could move it around, but, be steady enough to work on the iPad Pro. First off, it took a minute to figure out HOW to stiffen up the arms and set them, as there was only 2 knobs to turn. The main control knob, which is round, actually tightens the whole unit. This is kind of a pro and con. The pro is that it is only 1 knob to tighten, but, I have to tighten it MUCH tighter than I expected. I mean, I have to grab the knob with both hands (mainly 2 finger on each hand, as the space is very tight to access), and turn the knob to the point it hurts my fingers. Next, even after all of that, once the iPad is in place, if I just leave it alone and not touch it, it seems to stay put. But, once I start putting any pressure on the iPad, like drawing with the Apple Pencil, the harder strokes WILL cause the arm ball to drop the whole clamp. Mind you, I am mounting the holder with the table clamp down, and the arms raising upwards. Next, the ring that tightens the actual holder to the arms, is plastic, and it also needed to be super tight. I decided to try relocating the arm base, as you can have the arm be 90 degrees to the clamp, or, from the top/bottom. Neither one made a difference in the overall holding ability. I then took the clamp to my music studio, clamped the holder to my drum rack, facing down, so the iPad would be dangling, rather than being held up, and found that after a times hitting crashes, the vibration was causing the mount to slowly sink down, until I could no longer see the iPad. If you want a mount that just HOLDS your device in place, without actually using it, im sure it may work for that. But, if you need a mount that is robust and holds like glue, you may want to look elsewhere Read more

Definitely the perfect solution to my lack of VESA mounting for my 15 inch portable monitor that is now my main screen for my mac mini. My biggest problem with these usually is that the spring tension on the arm doesn't last for the weight of tablets these days. Look at iPads and the bigger Androids with the nicer displays and glass, they add up and can really weigh these down! I did not have a problem with this one, thankfully. There is a sliding claw adjustment to set a kind of macro adjustment size, then you can spring tension it into place within the claws to hold your tablet or phone in place. The single knob to tighten the whole arm in place is convenient, though it makes micro adjustment of pieces difficult because you are essentially loosening the whole arm just to adjust one piece of it. Takes some practice but it can be done. Overall I am happy with this, and it gives you multiple grips though it wouldn't adjust onto my 3in table face to allow it to be used as an additional tablet/monitor arm which I was hoping it would. Good quality components and should last a good long time as the spring tension arm is actually spring loaded, and not a plastic gear that will strip out with the constant pushing/pulling on the tension claw to fit a tablet or phone into place. Easy to set up and easy to adjust. Mounts really well and holds in place. I've used this with an ipad at my work desk and it has helped clean up the space and prevent clutter by removing it from my desk. This seems really well made and it does its job really well. Read more
