The rice is cooked very nice both white and brown rice. Though I would put slightly less water than the bowl marker says. The keep warm function is decent but like any other rice cooker, I wouldn't keep rice in there for a long time as it will dry out and won't be as good. The stainless steel steaming basket it comes with is great. I use it to wash the rice and it is great because the holes are small enough so that pretty much all the rice stays in the basket but big enough for water to flow through at a slow pace. This slow pace allows water to build up in the basket a little bit so you can agitate the rice to wash it better than if you washed using a strainer. I recommend washing the rice in the stainless steel basket and not in the ceramic bowl to avoid scratching it. I also try to gently place the stainless steel steaming basket into the ceramic bowl to not scratch it. The rice spatula they give is good. The smaller one has a little protrusion that props the spatula up so the head doesn't touch the table. I just wish there was a spatula holder too. The condensation collector is fine. I saw some reviews showing how easily to fell off but mine doesn't fall off easily and snaps into place just fine. Maybe it gets worse over time but so far it's been good. I am a pretty decent cook but perfect rice (before this machine) was a hit or miss proposition. I looked at buying resources for the best rice machines and this one made Top 3 and was very reasonably priced. Making rice has never been so simple - add your rice and water (or other liquid) and press the button(s) needed, then wait for it to beep. It gives a short beep to let you know 10 minutes are left and then beeps longer when finished. Great rice every single time! All the buttons made me sigh at first, but they were easy to identify and figure out. I prefer intuitive over having to read the manual. The beauty of this machine is that it figures out all the hard part for you, like how much longer if you double the amount of grain for more people. The differences between grains, like brown and white rice, bulgar, etc. They include a steam basket. I haven't used this function yet. They went with the British slang for oatmeal with the "porridge" button. And yes, it makes decent oatmeal too. Rice is my mainstay tho and here's my tip: Use 1 part rice to 1.5 part liquid - add 1T oil or butter - fluff the rice with the included paddle once finished. Great rice cooker. It is my first time owning a fancy rice cooker, and it did not disappoint. The Yumcarb option is great. Rice tastes exactly the same as if cooked the traditional way minus all the yucky stuff. The ceramic bowl is nice and thick and I love the metal steamer tray on the inside. 20/10 recommend. Fantastic rice cooker. The low carb rice is amazingly light and fluffy. White is amazing, brown rice is stupendous. My only complaint, is that since you are steaming and partially boiling the rice, it’s harder to flavor it and clean up. It’s makes normal rice better than most rice cookers. I was wary about the new system and measurement method, but I really like the cooker and rice it makes. Would buy again. I have been using this cooker for a few weeks and am very pleased. It makes wonderful rice and I like that the bowl has a safe non stick surface without forever chemicals. I plan to use it for hard boiled eggs too using the steaming function. No complaints so far. Read more
