This pillow is brilliant. . . I've never actually seen anything like it. The pillow unzips and provides access to interior core. It's not like it opens up to the loose gelled microfiber. That part is encased and looks very high quality. There is a memory foam insert, which they say can be removed. I actually wish it came with two or three inserts so you could personalize the firmness to exactly what you want. (But I can easily get my own. . . it's just egg crate memory foam.) But it's the design of the pillow that I love. Super soft, sleeps like a down pillow. I really might play around with adding more memory foam to the inside. Read more

First of all, I am a collector of pillows. You know the types well - the ones that claim to be soft - the ones that claim to be for side sleepers - the expensive memory foam ones - the ones that claim to be low loft. You name it - I've tried it but found that none of them could replace my (very old - probably at least 15 year old) plain foam, almost flat, pillow. (Yes, I know that pillows should be replaced after several years - that's why I ended up with such a collection of unused pillows!) THIS PILLOW ACTUALLY WORKS!!!! In fact, it works for me so well that I have tossed my old standby away - (after a suitable mourning period for the number of years of service and to make absolutely sure that old Standby was no longer needed and truly needed to be retired to the great pillow heaven.) First impressions: After taking it out of the package, it did puff up which made me leery of it. I hate it when my head is tilted up. I can't sleep unless my head is almost flat with just a little support for my neck. Since the instructions indicated that the inner core of foam could be removed to make the pillow softer, I decided to at least give it a try for a week with the foam insert in it first. If it was too high, then I would try it without the foam in the middle before returning it and going back to my old standby. From the looks of it at first - I was sure that by the end of two weeks that I would probably be back to sleeping on old Standby. First night - no fighting the pillow trying to get comfortable. Actually woke up the next morning without any neck pain. Figured that I probably was just really, really tired and slept mostly on my side. Still keeping old Standby next to me on the bed - just in case. By the end of the week, still no neck pain and no fights with the new pillow. Decide not to take insert out for testing - need more time testing it with the insert. Okay - its almost a month later, I still haven't taken the foam insert out - not interested in doing so, old Standby has gone bye-bye and I'm in love with Z. While I was very leery about spending so much on yet another pillow, I have to admit that it was a very good investment for me as I can now finally give up throwing money away on collecting pillows that can't be used. I noticed that some people in their reviews that I read before buying mentioned a bad smell - there was a slight scent when it first came out of the package but by that night - I did not smell anything on the pillow. But, I do not have a sensitive nose. Some people with sensitive noses might need to just let it air out a couple of days before use. Read more

I'm a side sleeper who purchased both this pillow and Z Shoulder ZONED DOUGH Memory Foam Pillow - Bamboo Charcoal Infused - Premium TENCEL Cover - 5 Year Warranty - Mid Loft - Queen during a sale. This pillow is supposed to be high loft, but it did not lift my head up as high as the other pillow, which was supposed to be mid loft. I tried it using both sides and both were far too low for this side sleeper. It also smelled terrible in spite of airing it out for three days before using. If you are the type who prefers to travel with your own pillow, I should point out that this pillow is surprisingly heavy. I ended up returning it. I guess I will go back to making my own pillows by stuffing fiber from a couple of cheaper pillows into a zippered pillow protector and adjusting to my preference. Read more

This is the second pair of these firm Z Convolution pillows that we have purchased. The original pillows lasted over 2 years. They are pretty firm to begin with. We left the gel inserts in. We are back and side sleepers. Customer service is outstanding We had a minor shipping issue. Read more

I thought I was ordering the exact replacement for a pillow I have had for 7 years - yes - washed regularly but it needed replaced. This one is much softer than I had hoped so definitely recommend trying the foam. I will probably go back directly to the mattress store to find the one I was wanting to replace. This is actually my second pillow from them. Originally I bought this locally as a floor model from a furniture store so it was already kinda beat up and still lasted 2 years. I wanted a brand new one of the exact same pillow so I found the company name on the tag and ordered here. It shipped fast and is wonderful. They even included a little thank you card which is so nice. I will say, I thought I ordered a king and received a queen so make sure you're double checking your order. I’m not sure if their queen is the size of a king or what. Either way it’s worth the price. My husband has the shoulder cutout gel version and his was brand new. Going on 2 years and it’s in mint condition. I spent years tryin to find the perfect pillow, I have chronic pain and this brand is it. Trust me! Read more

This is a super soft, low loft pillow. When you open the zipper, you can see the egg crate foam inside. The description says that you can remove it to make it feel like a down pillow, but it feels a lot like down even with it inside. After a few nights of sleeping on this, I would actually like to try it with an additional layer of egg crate foam. The gelled microfiber is super soft and sleeps cool.
