This 1in gel topper does wonders. I did not want something too soft as I like firm with a bit of cushion and this was perfect. I’ve had 2in and it just didn’t lay well. No chemical smell (my purchase at W****** was SO bad!-I returned it!) I love the white color, too; it's the same color as my mattress & doesn't show thru my sheets at all.
