I'm revising my original score from 5 stars to 3. I was so happy with my sweater at first that I ordered my partner the same sweater in a larger size, and for myself a similar but different one from the same mill, also the next size up. Then within 3 days my first sweater was pilling badly, and now just a few weeks later it looks years old. Plus the light weight zipper is really insufficient for the bulk of the sweater....I have a $15 bathrobe with a heftier more reliable zipper. Then the new sweaters arrived. Both fit a bit smaller in the hips than the first one, even though I ordered a bigger size. Shoulders are bigger though, but I need the room in the hips. My new sweater is a button up, and the buttons are cheap plastic fake leather ones, bleh. The wool is not soft but rather scratchy. On the other hand it's not pilling at all, and generally seems better made (tho I like the fashion details on the first one better). Maybe wools that are very soft just naturally pill more, I don't know. I'm keeping them all because we are having an exceptionally cold winter and these sweaters ARE delightfully toasty warm. I still love the generous length and the colors. But I won't order any more from this company as I don't like the pilling on one and scratchiness of the other. And I'm going to be replacing the zippers very soon. Original review: I will wear it to death. It's cozy warm, falls nicely to mid hip on my 5'8" frame. The "mock turtleneck" is tall but not binding, and when not zipped to the top falls into a nicely shaped collar. I almost dropped one star because I wish the zipper was more substantial. It's a #3, and I would have preferred a #5 zipper just because the bottom feels wimpy where you start the zipper. As a woman with big hips, I know I'll put a lot of stress on it. Read more

I love the color feel and heaviness of this sweater. Seems like manufacturing issuing thinner fabrics which defeats the purpose of a warm sweater. But this one is thick and we'll made. Bought a slightly different cut from the same company because I like this one so we'll. Read more

The quality is superb and the wool is soft and not scratchy; very comfortable. Fit is perfect. Rating is 4.5 - only because a sturdier zipper would be a better match for the rest of the garment (an upgrade for the price). It takes some finesse to use it (the zipper) smoothly as it doesn’t lay flat with the fabric. The zipper pull is heavy, but the zipper is not. I considered returning it because of that, but overall, the sweater feels so good and I prefer a wool sweater like this to be zippered over buttoned. The fabric won me over. The sweater is piling some now that I have worn it several times but is comfortably warm and very enjoyable to wear. I am pleased to have it. Read more

This is a nice warm sweater that looks good. I marked it down a little because the horizontal pockets look a little saggy, and side ones might look better. Also, the knit is a bit looser than my preference. A tighter knit is less likely to wear at the elbows. Read more
