The battery feature does not work in the unit we received. It has to be plugged in. The BP reported is all over the place (my wife is a nurse). This might be due to the small cuff we ordered - as instructed by our MD. A wrist BP meter we have is also presumably inaccurate, but the fluctuations on that device are minimal, so we believe something is wrong with the upper arm unit we received. We're returning it. A beautiful and well made, blood pressure machine. I needed one that had a small cuff as all the others only offered large one and they are too big for my arm. It's easy to use, just getting used to where to place the cuff properly takes a bit of time. You have a setting on the cuff of S/M/L and if not placed just right, you can get some absurd readings, scared me the first few times I tried. After much experiment I got the cuff right :) All and all it's wonderful and the fact that you can plug it in (it comes with adapter as well) makes it great!
