Useful tool for anyone with infants and toddlers.
I purchased this for my daughter when our granddaughter was born. If you have infants or toddlers, this is a very useful tool. The accuracy is “acceptable”, this is a screening tool. It takes surface temperature and not core temperatures, which are much more accurate on infants and toddlers. But It will give you enough information to make an informed decision about your child’s medical status. I did compare it to a rectal temp. The recta temp was slightly higher than the surface temperature this thermometer found, but only by .2°F. So it is accurate and reliable enough for its intended use. Is this as good as the ones we used in the hospital, well yes and no. The hospital thermometers cost significantly more, but they are also used in some cases hundreds of times per day. They were also dropped frequently. These thermometers needed to be built to a different standard than one that will sit in a medicine cabinet for months or years without being used.
