I purchased an Asurion extended warranty to protect a tower fan. My understanding was that if the fan malfunctioned through no fault of mine, it would be repaired or replaced. When the remote control for the fan stopped working, a filed a claim with Asurion through Amazons website. On the same day, I received a message that I’d receive a return shipping label so that I could send the fan to Asurion. Three weeks later, when I had not received the return shipping label, I called the Asurion phone number that was posted on the Amazon website. I reached an Amazon employee who told me there was nothing they could do since the return window had long expired. They directed me to Asurion through a different phone number. Once I reached Asurion, at no time did they offer to repair or replace my fan. Instead, they gave me a refund for the purchase price of the fan. I paid about $45.00 for the fan. The same fan now sells for more than $75.00 on Amazon. Therefore, despite buying an extended warranty, I still have to spend an additional $30.00 plus tax to replace my malfunctioning fan (remote control). If Asurion will not replace malfunctioning products for customers who buy the extended warranty Asurion should stop advertising that they will. Read more
