If you're wondering about an additional protection plan, Asurion through Amazon is your answer. I usually purchase the Asurion protection plan for high dollar items. In today's market, just because something is expensive does not ensure quality. As an engineer myself, I can tell you that manufactured products today are ENGINEERED for a specific life cycle. Asurion gives you that little extra after the manufacture failed you. Days gone by, quality of workmanship was a badge of honor. Somehow and somewhere along the line we lost that personal pride. This would be the first time I have used this service for myself, and on this occasion I'm very glad that i did. I depend on the use of Ethernet signal extenders in my location to bring internet service to my home, and these are not especially inexpensive . . at over $200 per pair. if one unit of the pair should fail, i need to purchase another set to replace one defective unit . . . which will be good til the next two failures. Previously I have always heard and believed that extended warranty's were generally a waste of money, because an actual defective item will usually fail before the manufacturers warranty is up. That has been my experience mostly. But when it came time when i needed to purchase my third set of signal extenders within a three year period --- i decided that it could be a wise thing to purchase a four year warranty also. So i did, and three years later i have this occasion to be glad that i did. I tried to file online without assistance and that proved to be a little confusing at first ---perhaps only for my lack of experience --- but chat help was offered --- and I accepted. With assistance of support it went well after that. Very helpful! I was emailed a label and instructions to print and return the defective item. When that was done i would receive an amazon gift credit for the original purchase price . . . Great! whoops! UPS!!! . . . per instruction, i was required to package the item and bring it to a UPS store. The problem -- the nearest UPS store is on another island! So after a little detective work i did find a telephone number to call so that i would be able to speak with a live representative, and this time was made even more simple with customer service and support . . . The necessity to return the defective equipment was actually waived in this case, and a few hours later --- the gift certificate was applied to my Amazon account. Just an amazing service that i will use again ---especially on purchases of sensitive expensive electronic equipment that seem prone or tend to failure --- like networking devices . . . Read more

We dropped off the box at UPS. Why did you pick this product vs others?: I picked this insurance produce because it was the only one offered , ie, all products were from Asurion; the only differences were duration of warranty and price. For anything with moving parts, like printers, I almost always choose the longest term. Since I take really good care of my equipment, I was surprised to receive a notice that my printer couldn't be fixed and that a refund for the purchase price would be issued. No discussion, no nothing. I had plenty of ink left in the cartridges and would have appreciated a return of those, especially since I have another printer that uses the same cartridges, and buying new ones for the replacement I intend to get will cost more than half the price of the new printer. In a nutshell, did Asurion make good on their warranty? Yes. Am I completely satsified? No. If I had to do it again--and I will--I would again buy the longest-term plan available, but if I had to make a return, I would remove all removable parts that did not come with the printer before packaging it and sending it back.
