I received a vitamix when my husband and I moved into our house which seemed really awesome but the base is huge and heavy, and the cup is rather tall so it takes up a considerable amount of space. I always had trouble with my recipes "breaking" due to the tall cup. The lower half would be blended but the upper half had all the ingredients. Finally, several weeks ago, after considerable use (my stuff just kept separating), the Vitamix overheated. I flipped the switch and absolutely nothing happened. I checked the outlet and confirmed that the problem was indeed the Vitamix. It did cool down after about 10 minutes and went back to working but I had enough. I ordered this Calphalon blender and have loved it! The cup is shorter and fatter so the ingredients don't break or separate, I don't know how legitimate the active sense is but my stuff is blended to my desired consistency, and the size of everything is more reasonable. I like that it also comes with a small bullet blender that converts into a to go cup as I do often work out and it's so much nicer to use that than dirty the large cup for 8-10oz of liquid. The last thing I think is important to note is that unlike the Vitamix, the base of the cup with the blade and gasket all disassemble for washing and the Vitamix doesn't come apart at all. In fact, over the years of having it, I've noticed that the gear section in the middle has started rusting in the dishwasher and the rust is spreading. It's on the outside of the cup so the food isn't contaminated but still, having the ability to disassemble the blender cup fully is absolutely essential for hygienic reasons as well as durability reasons. Water isn't able to escape the crevices in the Vitamix so it sits and rusts. I would highly recommend this Calphalon blender to anyone. Read more

This was on a flash sale and I’m so glad we bought this! We make so many more smoothies now because they are so easy to make with this blender! The convenience of the two sizes of pitcher and easily unscrewed bottom makes everything so easy to use and clean. I love the different settings and how this machine will do all the hard work, all I have to do is push a button! Sometimes it reads “add more liquid” and you have two settings for smoothing, thin or thick and I love this feature! Certain smoothies taste better thick and some better thin, it’s a great feature to use! We’re looking forward to trying the salsa feature it takes us so long to make and we love homemade salsa! The power of this machine is incredible and it’s easy to use. We love it. Worth every penny and it’s helping us live a healthier lifestyle! We can make enough for six smoothies at once for us and our four kids in one pitcher! Just, awesome. Love! Read more

I read lots of reviews before deciding to buy this blender. I was doubtful about the comments that it was “quiet” and concerned about reported difficulties with leaking. I am happy to report it is indeed quieter than other smoothie blenders and quite efficient at making smoothies, daiquiris and frozen cherry limeade. The texture is perfect and the variety of settings for thin or thick textures is a nice feature. I will say it did leak from the bottom the first time we used it. I had read that another reviewer took the seal out and re-seated it with success to stop the leaking. I did that and also had success to stop the leaking. I’m currently very pleased with this purchase. I’m hopeful that it continues to work well without causing me to plug my ears☺️ Read more

I have seen the reviews about leaking, so I was a bit leery about getting this blender on special. I have been struggling with a ninja blender for a couple of years. I liked the blender, but the cap broke and the seal on the lid, melted quite easily in the dishwasher. I was reluctantly satisfied with holding both down the blender lid and cap to blend what I needed, but had planned to replace the blender. I saw that the calphalon, was on sale and read the reviews. I ordered it as experience varies. I found the following issue with the blender, which was very simple to correct. The rubber ring (out of the box) wasn't seated properly. I took care to feel and seat it properly after seeing it wouldn't screw down with a seal.. It wouldn't close around the juice cup when I screwed it on. I assumed it would leak, like some of the reviews said. So I took my thumb and made sure that is sat flush with the blender base. No problem and no leaking. I will see how this stands up to time, but I can see how people would be upset with this blender out of the box. Try manually making the ring flush with the base and see how it works. I am satisfied with this self modification, out of the box. Time will tell, if this is a permanent fix. The makers should make sure that the ring is flush or leave it out making sure the user puts it in properly. Also, there is a quick start guide that references reading the full manual first (which mentions, assembly). I got no such manual. Odd. So far it is a nice blender, but time will tell. I will update my review, if needed. Read more

Blends well, but incredibly noisy. We use the blender very infrequently, no more than a few times a month, yet the base of the blender jar cracked wide open 14 months after purchase making it unusable. Read more

I have two Vita, ninja and others over the yeasr and by far this is the best bender I’ve ever used. It spins in both directions and ramps up or blast mixing to make sure everything get blended. I’m amazed that it can get two viscosities from the same amount of ingredients, and make perfect creamy Italian ice that you would swear has dairy in it. As for the people who complain about it leaking, the bottom blade assembly is removable and just need to be tightened. The only flaw in this device is you can’t purchase additional pitchers for it and at the current price I’ll buy another one to just have. I paid $200 for it and still think I got a bargain even though it’s $65 now. Read more
