Have tried these from various brands at various price points with varying results. Even the same brands seem inconsistent. Sometimes they work great, sometimes they are garbage. In this case we have a mid-priced option that seems high quality. Replaced after old filter started tasting chlorine-funky after six months. This one went in easy and made the water taste great with no loose particles or weird issues. Problem solved. Buying another. The Culligan brand still seems to mean “water that does not suck.” Read more
Works great. No instructions were included but it was super easy to install without. I used a gallon container to make sure the filter was properly prepped and cleared before drinking. It took about one and a half gallons til it was fully clear and ready for drinking. My water tastes great, actually it tastes better now than with the cheaper filter I was using before, and it works perfect in my fridge. Will order again. Read more
I purchased this filter and an EC total disolved solids parts per million (ppm) water tester. to test the resulting water quality. The Culligan CUGMW filter does not reduce the EC PPM at all. There is no reduction! Here are my results: tap water: 390 ppm *** Culligan CUGMW: 394 ppm *** Sparkletts Spring Water: 90 ppm NU Aqua 6-stage Reverse Osmosis Water Filter System: 54 ppm Brita pitcher after NU Aqua: 37 ppm distilled water: 0 ppm The filters were tested after two weeks of use to avoid charcoal residue contaminating the results. It was easy to install. Read more
This product has the same or similar specs to the refrigerator manufacturer’s product at 30% less cost. And yes there are cheaper filters that remove chlorine taste but do not filter the contaminants. Read more
The best score from this filter so far has been 100, compared to our Zero filter canister of "0". Not impressed Read more
There is a lot of second rate water filter offerings with questionable test lab claims handmade largely in China. This is a legitimate, substitute filter that is made in North America and that comes in at a slightly lower price than the GE product. I’ve used it in two different refrigerators in the last week and it fits perfectly without operational flaws. Read more
Have always used the GE MWF, but they have gotten so expensive I decided to try this as Culligan has a good reputation. I have bought the Culligan twice now. The water tastes good. The only difference I see is that the Culligan takes a little longer for the excess charcoal from the filter to run through after installation (the GE took about 1/2 gallon, the Culligan takes about a gallon). I will continue to buy this Culligan filter. Read more
