Solid. It has a hefty solid feel to it. Totally unlike the other power strips I have used before. The instructions were clear to me. Unforunately these devices are always somewhat complex to setup. It took me about 30 minutes and then I had to find a video for a part that was in the instructions I missed (my fault - hint: don't forget to hit the auto button to make sure it says auto at the bottom after you set up a schedule.) Overall, very happy. Read more

I chose this timed power strip to control a grow light that I'm using as I try to keep some cat grass and peppermint alive. Living in New England, there is very little sunlight as it is, and even less makes its way inside my apartment. Based on the reviews, mechanical timer power strips seemed to have issues with noise (as in, they constantly tick), while the main issue with this one was that it was 'difficult to program'. This seemed the lesser of two evils, so I steeled myself for a long struggle and chose this one. It arrived, and I plugged it in to charge the internal battery as the manual suggested. During the charging process, the digital display became brighter--some have also commented the display is dim and hard to read. Just do as the manual suggests, and plug it in for 30+ minutes when it arrives. Then the time arrived for programming. I unplugged the power strip (display remains bright) and began going through the steps in the manual, just waiting for it to become difficult or confusing. Then I finished programming it, plugged it back in, and plugged my grow light in. It works perfectly. My suggestion for those having difficulty programming it is to read the manual (RT*M). If you still can't get it, and live in New England, I'd be happy to come do it for you! Read more

I am having an extremely difficult time programming it and the user manual is written poorly. I went through the entire process and my lights will not turn off at the time I've set for that. I found two videos on YouTube that I followed (one was just music and a hand pressing buttons in beat to the music and one had a description on what they did, which I followed). Either the strip is not functioning properly or I'm just not understanding how to make the lights turn off. I need the lights to work for my bearded dragon baby I'm getting soon. I have an email sent to the customer support team, so we'll see if they can help or if I'll be looking for a replacement strip. Edit to add: the Dewenwils customer service was quick to respond to me and send me detailed step by step instructions (much better than the included instructions) to program the power strip. Because of this, I've upgraded my review from 1 star to 3. It would be good if the power strip was more customer friendly overall, and if the instruction sheet was written better. Read more

I bought this timer to replace one that I had for a number of years to control the lighting for my indoor vegetable garden. For the old timer, I had only to set the on/off settings and the current time. When the old timer went out, I had to set up this timer which took me a while as it was not at all intuitive. Although this timer has some advantages over my old timer, I found that there were so many settings that I felt were unnecessary for a simple setup. Some of the additional setting add to the funtionality of this timer and are useful once they are set up, but this is not a timer that you would ever want to lose the instructions. Everything has to be done in a specific sequence. If you push one wrong button, you have to start all over again. You need to set the year, month and day which is used for your time zone, which you need to set, and for daylight savings time if it applies to your time zone. When you get to the off/on timer settings, you can set up to 7 off/on times. These times apply to all of the timed outlets. So, you can't program the outlets individually. For my purposes, I need only one off/on setting. Once that settings are done, you can't get out of the settings without going through all 7 of the on/off settings. If you make a mistake in a setting, you have to go through the entire process all over again. Once you get all of the setting done, you have to set the clock for one minute before the on time and wait for the timer to switch on. Then you have to reset the clock to the current time. It would be nice if there was an option to get out of the timer settings once you set what you need. The advantages that this timer has over my old timer is that it does not lose the settings if the electricity happens to go off as It has internal memory that retains the settings. Although all of the necessary settings are a pain, I like that this timer automatically adjusted the time for daylight savings time. Since I have had this timer for a short time, I can't attest to its longevity at this time, but will update my review if my opinion changes. UPDATE 06/13/19: I recently discovered that only one of these timers can be plugged into a wall receptacle at a time. Because of the orientation of the 3-prong plug on the timer, the cord of a second timer overlaps the plug of the first preventing it from being plugged in. The workaround for this problem, if you need two timers, is to plug one or both of them into a power strip that is plugged into the wall receptacle. I hope this review was helpful for you Read more

This has worked great for our turtle aquarium. We use the switch control for water heater and filter (always on) and the timer control for lights. READ THE DIRECTIONS. The initial programming isn’t difficult, but it’s not intuitive. (Think digital watch from 1998). It would be hard if I hadn’t read the instructions. Overall, we are pleased. It has 4 mounting holes on the back, so it’s easy to mount to the wall, to allow for a proper drip setup. Read more

This outlet timer was so easy to set up and program. I am currently using it as a setup for my Bearded Dragon to control the basking bulb/UV Bulb. It was a little challenging to set up at first because I refused to read the instructions, however once I did, I learned setup was a breeze. If the power goes out there appears to be a battery that keeps the time clock going, but I have not experienced that yet. Read more
