Bought this in July and had been using it for 5 months. My husbands workspace doesnβt have a/c. It blows super cold air. Is very compact and easy to install. Itβs very quiet Iβve only emptied the small water cup 2times and the unit gets used almost everyday. Iβm so pleased with this purchase Iβm buying another one. The weather has been cooling down, so the heater has been on. However, my son prefers a cold room. So Iβm buying one for his room. Read more

Works great. I would say the size room it cools is a bit over stated. Read more

The media could not be loaded. The product does what it promises. It blows cold air. The window kit works on my vertical window and will fill about 5 feet in length. Venting is done by a flexible hose much like a dryer vent hose. If I were to install this for the summer I would look into an insulated dryer hose as they will transfer less heat, and are made to handle moist hot air which is what this unit vents (for every action there is an opposite reaction -you have to make heat to make cold air. The item is about right with the square footage it can cool. Properly installed it will cool about 300 - 350sf of space. When it is 115 outside it struggles a bit, but so does a central air system. For me my kitchen is about 360sf and it helps keep it cool and dry. It does make a fair amount of noise as it is an AC unit with a compressor and heat exchanger. It uses an impeller type fan which should last. I find running the fan on low keeps the noise down to a reasonable level. But obviously the compressor makes that compressor sound no matter what. The unit is reasonably efficient only drawing 790 - 798 watts at maximum settings. So for a day's worth of use, assuming it ran all day without ever stopping, (which you should not do, it is made to cycle on and off at a set temp like 75), it would use about $2.15 for me. That may sound crazy, but my central air burns about $15 per day and it does cycle on and off. So in a proper environment, on a hot summer day, this unit may use $1 or so if it is cycling normally. The window kit is minimalist. it is made to fit windows up to just over 5 feet tall or wide. In my case I needed 5 feet worth. The smallest opening is about 27" but if you needed smaller you could cut the plastic down to size. As for the quality of sealing, you might want to use some sort of paint tape, or buy some foam stripping at a big box store -that would be ideal to get a good seal to keep heat out. It also depends on the window style as some may seal better than others. The controls make sense, I will be using the dehumidifier feature in winter for sure. Everything seems to work well. I did not use the phone app because it is just as easy to walk over and do what I need to do. I also like that it is using R32 for refrigerant. That's what the industry is moving to rapidly. General consensus is it is better than R410A, and more like R22 for cooling capability, And for the tech nerds, the Delta T is about 21 degrees on this unit, making it outperform my 3 ton R410A central air unit by 7 degrees. So it blows cold air for sure. The unit has a CEER rating of 6.3BTU/hr but using actual usage loads I come up with 8.3BTU/hr so I am not sure why the discrepancy (figid test environment maybe). I had AI check my math to be sure. 6.3 is okay, 8.3 is more okay. Don't pull the plug to shut off! Press the power button and let it go through its shutdown process of shutting off the compressor and letting the fan run to cool things down first. This is a very handy item to have in a time of need, or a hot room that needs some extra cooling, even to take the curse off a hot garage. I am wondering why I waited so long to be honest. Read more

Had this for a week or so at this point and it works as expected. It keeps my office cool and dry at around 10-15 degrees cooler than outside. The installation was okay if a bit annoying to set up the exhaust hose. You get better with time on those. Noise is about what one would expect. I feel its like white noise so I'm not bothered by it but you'll need headphone if you're doing work. The remote is alright but unnecessary for daily use. Design is sleek and functional. Not sure about energy efficiency just yet as this month's power bill hasn't popped up yet. Read more

This 14000btu Dr. Prepare portable a/c: installation went fine. The unit connected to wifi fine. I set a temperature of 62 deg F in the room to be used in, and a temperature setpoint of 90 deg F and it ran cooled for about an hour. Then the compressor cut off and only the fan ran even though it was not close to the temperature setpoint. I unplugged it and tried resetting the smart life app. I had intermittent success but the unit compressor would randomly turn off leaving the room to get hot due to it recirculating with just the fan. I need this to keep very important electrical equipment cool while I am away from home for several days. I cannot afford for the unit to just quit cooling while gone. I performed a loss of power check to make sure it would turn back on to its preset settings and it did, however, the compressor would not turn on even though the indicator showed 62 deg F of cooling on the faceplate. I am an ellectrical engineer of 42 years in the power industry. Also if the internet and/or wifi is lost, the unit cannot perform its cloud based functions. I need a unit that is not dependent on the cloud. I need it to cool whether internet/wifi is present or not. It needs to continue cooling with/without internet and/or wifi. purely on its local memory. Read more

I love this unit! Finally, no more hot summers without a good night's rest! Only, my neighbors smoke at more than one side of my residence, so buy a black filter cloth and cover the end that goes up to your screen on your window and there will be nothing but pure clean fresh air coming into your unit and your room! There is no need to take off your window screen, either! I see so many people out there removing their window screens and leaving your unit vulnerable to bugs, more dust, and outside unwanted obstructions. I left my window screen alone and on my window and I just covered the entire area where the window slide and tube goes onto my window with a black breathable air filter cloth that can be purchased for about $17 on Amazon and I have nothing but cold, clean, fresh air coming in, unless it is extremely smoky outside because the filter can only do so much! Still, it works better than leaving your entire window area open to the outside! Read more
