The media could not be loaded. Not sponsored review. I purchased this AC unit for $230 my own money and I'm satisfied. I have a central AC unit at the house but my sons room just cant get cool down to the comfortable temperature. After taking all in to the consideration it was the best option at this time to purchase a small separate unit. The room is not that big so this AC cools it down fairly quick which which is important with the current electricity prices (NY). It is not a whisper quiet, as I never came across an AC that was, but its quiet enough to sleep with it running without any problems. Installation was quick and easy, although I will most likely remove the exhaust vent with the window panel for the winter. What I like the most and it was the deciding argument for this model, the app and Wi-Fi. You have full control of this AC from your phone, including the schedule. You can setup the day and time which will turn on and off automatically and cool down to your desire temperature. There is one thing I would improve, I think it would be nice if more then one phone could control the same AC. Unless I'm mistaken and doing something wrong, when my son added this unit to his app, it stopped working for me. And as we all know well, daddy must have control over the thermostat so... Read more

Typically I'm not happy about purchases through Amazon. This seller is a devoted person dedicated to making things happen. This will be my second machine coming and it's within a day. The unit has many features. And works better than my old 12000 but unit I have in the wall. I wish I had gotten a second one sooner. It's almost too cold. But that's okay. It doubles as a fan. After coming home in 90-100 degree heat. It's great to walk into a cold home without the crazy electric bill. Read more

I've have health issues lately that prompted me to become more active. Unfortunately I live in Florida where the outside temp stays just below the boiling point, so we turned our enclosed sun room into a small gym. However, being surrounded by windows in the Florida summer, its impossible to keep the room below 80 degrees. I didn't want to super cool the rest of the house, and it just needs a little help to get to comfortable temps. I purchased this Dr Prepare 8000 BTU unit to help make it happen. The unit has a very small footprint, maybe a foot square, doesn't require a lot of startup amps getting the compressor started so it doesn't pop the breaker. Is small enough to maneuver anywhere in the room, and is VERY QUIET. What more could you ask for? I'll tell you APP CONTROL!. This was the only unit in it's price range that is able to be controlled over WiFi, plus it can be set up on a timer to turn on/off when you want it. It uses the Smart Life app ( I just happened to already have for other items). This way, if I follow my setup routine, it is already precooled and ready for me, or if I'm leaving work, and maybe want to hit the treadmill once I get home, I'll turn it on remotely, and once I get home, the room is perfect. Now will this unit cool a large room all by itself? No, not at 8000 BTU's. But if you have a room that needs a little assistance, this unit is perfect. Small, cute, quiet, and effective. All that at a great price! Read more

Keeps my bedroom and sun drenched office cooler than the central AC ever could. Noise level is acceptable. Smart Life app functionality is great. Alexa controls aren't as good, basically just on or off plus reading the thermostat temperature. I'd say the unit itself was an excellent value for the money. However, running it may not be. It is not nearly as energy efficient as a central system. Installation and removal are easy. My only criticism are the instructions and the window kit. The instructions are roughly translated to English and it is not clear if the donation drain hose is strictly necessary in a dry climate or whether the condensation can be used to cool the compressor, evaporated, and expelled or not. So I use the drain and a 1 gallon jug. Emptying the condensation might be a frequent chore in a wet climate. The window kit needs to be cut with a power saw for a good looking tight fit in most windows. It should also include foam tape or similar weather strip, but you'll need to buy that separately. It does cool... , but the window kit does not fit the vinyl window... Not much in documentation about the three panels they included, looks mainly like it fits horizontal windows better. More when I figure out how to keep the exhaust hose in the window -- I had to use a hot-knife to cut the main panel down to fit my window. Hose between two ports in back started leaking water after a week or two Also cannot figure out how to register the thing, the web page only seems to want to sell you stuff. The support is slow, only having hours that are business hours in China. ***UPDATE*** The "recirculate condensation" evap does not work, the hose filled up with water, so I now drain the condensation into a container, and then the hose they supplied vibrated off, leaving a big puddle on the floor. The condensate hose goes into a recessed area on the AC so I cannot get a cable-tie on it to snug it up... It has a few issues. Read more

I've had the Doctor for most of the summer and it works fantastically! Cools the room down quietly and quickly. Fast enough that I can then turn on the fan and save energy Read more
